Twenty some years ago my Mother gave me an "Oster Regency Kitchen Center." It was old then. She had found it in an Antique/Junk Store. It had all the parts. It is a Pale Yellow. It has a Blender, Mixer with 2 bowls with regular blades and Bread blades, Food Processor with multiple cutting blades, and Meat Grinder. Patti is making Cabbage Rolls with left over Turkey. She planned on chopping the Turkey with a Knife. I asked why she was not using the Meat Grinder. Her response what Meat Grinder? She always forgets about the Oster. I pulled it out for her and set it up. After she used it she thought it worked pretty good and much nicer than a knife.

I pull it out and use the Mixer when making a Cake or the Food Processor Parts when I want Hash Browns for Breakfast. We have also used it to process Carrots for Carrot Cake.

We inherited an antique hand crank meat grinder. After years of never using it I decided to grind some chicken breast and apples. This turned out pretty good so I decided to try some pork. This turned out good enough but I realized that Jimmy Dean does a better job so the grinder is in back of the pantry some where again for the kids to find some day.

Like many things made in the 40s-60s while old were much better made than the garbage that comes from China today.

Some new things are made the OLD way:

We have a Bosch Kitchen Machine, purchased very second hand at a garage sale about twenty years ago. Similar to the Oster Tom mentioned above. Works surprisingly well. It's great for the heavy stuff, like mixing thick cookie batter and such. I suspect it'd be great at bread dough, if I ever made bread. Has a blender attachment we never use, and a food processor I always forget is there. Pretty handy thing.

My mom's mixer had a bunch of attachments. In this picture with her and my sister, she's using the juicer attachment on the top to squeeze juice for the icing they're going to make.

My mother had a mixer that looked just like that plus the juicer attachment.

My dad owned a restaurant for 45 years and I inherited a few really old pieces of equipment. One is a counter top meat grinder. It weighs about 40 pounds and is 80 years old. Still works great and is how we make homemade Italian sausage. It takes a while to clean, but otherwise it's great.

My mother-in-law gave me this exact same item as a bridal shower gift in 1979. I was still using it up until we sold the house and put most of our stuff in storage. Most recently I mostly used it for the ricer/skinner attachment. Parboiled potatoes, no peeling, put cut up pieces in the chute.....the skins would come out one hole and the potato would get pushed thru the ricer. No lumpy potatoes. I recently purchased a nice hand held potato ricer. I think it is an OXO brand. I do have to peel the potatoes, boil about 20 minutes, press thru the ricer. Add some butter and milk for perfect mashed potatoes.
I will probably retire the Oster (if our house ever gets done and we get to unload our PODS). I like the more powerful motor on the Kitchen Aid for making bread doughs. But it served me well for over 40 years.

I have a ridiculously clunky thing that I bought in the 1980s. It has a mixer, a grater, a blender, and other attachments I've forgotten about. A few years ago I bought its meat grinder attachment on eBay and promptly forgot about it!

We drag the machine out once or twice a year to grate potatoes for lakes. Maybe the sausage-making time is nigh!

The old Jimmy Dean pork products were excellent. However, since Jimmy Dean has passed away and the company has been sold. Jimmy Dean products have loss its quality and taste..IMHO

We have an old potato French fries cutter and its cut nice large potatoes fries to made French fries.

It was interesting and kind of fun to use that old hand crank meat grinder but all in all it was just too much effort. Especially when I can buy ground meat and sausage at the store. Same goes for bread. It's kind of fun to make and add ingredients but it is too much effort, imo. Cookies and brownies are definitely worth the effort as no one has my wifes very old handed down from one generation to the next recipe. :)
