I want to try to reserve for july 4 (a Friday) week in aruba 2008 and then exchange it. In helping to decide which week to choose, I was just curious when someone would want to go there. Would you want to.....
- arrive on fri june 27 and leave july 4th
- arrive sat 6/28 and leave 4/5
- arrive sun 6/29 and leave 4/6
- or even arrive fri the 4th or sat the 5th and leave 7/11 or 7/12

I've never flown on the 4th. Any idea what it's like? I would think people would try to travel on thursday the 3rd.

Thanks. Any comments are greatly appreciated!

There is no magic to any of the dates. Travelers will be filling planes on all three days of that weekend. It's the beginning and end of two of the biggest vacation weeks of the year.

My guess is that the first week ending in Saturday will be best, as that will give a working person a week of vacation from work while being charged for only 4 days of vacation. That also gives the worker an extra day to recover before going back to work on Monday.

My personal choice would be from Saturday 6/28 to Saturday July 5th. As a matter of fact, that is the week we are looking for next year, and Aruba is one of our considerations. Is that Gold Season?

We usually vacation that week as it gives us one extra vacation day because of the holiday.

If I understand this correctly, you are asking what week would be more popular with exchangers and thus have greater trading power since you intend to trade the week rather than use it yourself.

I've never been to Aruba, but since it's a foreign country, I don't think July 4 would have the same significance there as it does here in the U.S. But, the significance it would have to many U.S. travelers is that it's a paid holiday from work. If they were taking vacation days they'd have to use only four days instead of five if their week off from work included July 4.

Therefore, I think that if I were working, I'd rather travel Saturday to Saturday of the week that includes July 4 so that I'd get to use the holiday, use only four days of vacation, and have Sunday to rest up after vacation before going back to work.

But, since my husband just retired, none of the above would really be a consideration. We would probably pick a week that was less crowded.:)

I'm not sure if you mean to exchange through II (or an independent trade company), but if so the day of the week check-in should not make any difference to your trade power.

If you're trying to exchange directly with another person then the day might make a difference to them.

Thank you for the comments.
Yes, it's gold season but it will only be the studio portion. And yes I will deposit it with an exchange company so we can go somewhere else. We will then use the 1-bed portion in August. I can't wait to get back to Aruba.

The day of checkin doesnt matter as far as trading power goes. Any day that weekend will give you the same trading power.
