We are looking to get away during spring break and I was wondering what peoples views are on the two Vistana resorts at these locations. We are a family of 4 (2 teenagers 15 and 12). We have never been to either of these two resorts.

The other option is Hilton Head which everyone loves, especially, Surfwatch.

Thanks for any input in advance.

Vistana Beach Club has a bit smaller units and not as much to do at the resort (pools etc.) - but it is located on the beach (not sure if this would be positive or negative during spring break).

Broadway Plantation isn't on the beach but does have a lot more available at the resort itself. I think most of the 2 BR units are also larger there (according to the villa layouts). Just watch for which unit/phase you are booking into.

I vote for Broadway Plantation there is so must to do onsite at the resort and in Myrtle Beach.

We have never been to Jensen Beach. No opinion.

We love Surfwatch three (3) bedrooms and HHI local activities.

Please check when is bike week in MB ?

I'm not a fan of the Beach Club. As said, not much to do there, and very few restaurants. My biggest concern was the small size of the pool. It was built when there was only 1 building, now there are 2. It's so crowded they had to put lounge chairs on the roof of the car ports so there would be enough seats. I suppose if fewer people are travelling it may not be totally full as it was for us a few years ago. It was just so boring. I did find a neat little car museum down the road, but who knows if it's still there. Good way to kill a couple of hours. We didn't even like the beach there. It was a kind of steep slope, and the sand was very mushy and hard to walk on as your feet sink in. We like to take walks on the beach to see the sights, but not there.

I personally really like Vistana's Beach Club. Right on the beach and if you check in on a Friday or Sunday you will be placed in the ocean front building. Great views and great balconies. I made a whole bunch of videos from of our stay there. Yes the pool is small, but there are activities (table games, ping pong, etc) in the activities area. The best part about this resort is the beach. You can rent two beach loungers and an umbrella for $20 a day. Cheapest I have seen lately. There is no other resort where the beach so close as it is at Vistana's Beach Club.

There are also a few small restaurants you could walk to, but mostly you would have to drive to go out to eat or shop. Hutchinson Island is much quieter and laid back compared to places further south like Palm Beach. If you want action, then head to Myrtle Beach, but for a quiet and more relaxing vacation, head to the beach!

I just watch your YouTube videos on this resort. This is a very small resorts directly on the beach. I gave you a thumb up on your video. "What to Expect at This Resort. "

OK you want a lounge chair on the roof of a car port - go for it! Even the pro-motive video mentioned it

I do agree, the pool is small and they do have loungers on the car port. Don't go for the pool, go for the beach. I do have a likes/dislikes video in the works.

You seem to have rather strong opinions of the place...

The beach there has not been renourished like it has in points further south.

We can all have different opinions. Neither is right or wrong.

That's why we call them OPINIONS. You were there, I was there. You had an opinion, I had an opinion..YOU ARE NOT RIGHT, and I AM NOT WRONG

Differences of opinion are what makes TUG great. You can learn so many things about different resorts. We all have certain things we like/dislike with our personal travel style - and that’s okay.

I personally won’t stay at a Wyndham - yet a lot of people are really enthusiastic for their point system.

Can you imagine what a mess it would be if we all wanted to go to the same resort!

This place will SUCK to some, and be maybe OK to others. No matter what you say, we all have our OPINIONS
The reason I say you have strong opinions of the place is you also like to use the CAPS key quite a bit. That is all. I am not sure why so much emphasis on certain words.

My opinion is that I love the Vistana Beach resort! However I don’t think it would appeal to Teenagers and tweens. It is very low key with not a lot to do nearby. I LOVE walking on that beach for miles and that our huge balcony is so close to the water. To each his own. I’m glad it’s not more popular, the serenity is part of the charm for me.

I am an owner at Sheraton Broadway Plantation and I strongly recommend this resort for a family with teens. There is an indoor /outdoor pool, which is great if weather is inclement.. There is also a lazy river, mini golf and a small pool restaurant to grab a bite to eat. Broadway at the Beach is very close (you could actually walk there) but it would be much better to drive because there's so much to see and do that your would be worn out on a walk back to the resort. If your looking at time during Spring Break I don't imagine there would be much beach time at either place. Walking yes, but swimming, not likely. Whatever you decide I hope you enjoy the time with your family. Another thought is that there are two types of units: 2BR lock-out or designated 2 BR. We like the designated 2BR because of the extra room they seem to provide. Someone mentioned that you should look out for BIKE WEEK. I agree, and I believe that happens in May. You should definitely call before you go to avoid that week. The bike folks are great but the noise is bothersome.

Can anyone confirm that Friday and Sunday check in dates will still you get you placed in an oceanfront unit?

Thanks!

That is my understanding. At least for weeks based timeshare stays. Abound Club Points, StarOptions and other reservations that are not for a full week could be different.

Thanks! I'm looking at reserving a full week with SOs. Check in for any day of the week is available, but I would like to reserve an oceanfront unit.

Unfortunately there isn't a guaranty. I don't know 100% for sure how full week StarOption reservations work since the underlying inventory can technically come from two different ownership weeks. I would make a Friday or Sunday reservation, make your request, and hope for the best.

I was at Vistana early November 2024. The back building was closed for renovations, including elevator repair. You might call before booking and see if that was finished.

We stayed at Vistana Beach Club in Jensen beach in 2022. I agree it’s not for teens. We enjoyed the beach and the area in general. Since we live in Florida we drove and brought our own beach chairs.
In 2023 we stayed at The Turtle Reef Club next door. We enjoyed staying there too. Also a restaurant on site. There is a New England Seafood Restaurant nearby, in driving distance. Also a fish market next to the restaurant. We enjoy the Hutchinson Island area very much.

Yeah, there are a few restaurant options on the island, many more in Jensen Beach. Mulligan's, though a Florida chain, is pretty good. We also went to a place called Burny Pit Stop for some Poutine!
