Well if you are doing something illegal you *should* be bearing the cost.

Totally agree. The tax payers should not be picking up the cost of rescues when the hiker knows full well they are either trespassing or not heeding the warning signs on the trails.

Although if someone falls and breaks something and is not doing anything wrong that just compounds their pain. Agree if they are doing something wrong
