We had originally reserved a 1BDRM OV for 3 nights and a studio OV for 1 night in the original section based on availability to go with our OF MOC week for our trip in two weeks to Maui.

I had been checking every day for at least a continous 4 day reservation but just couldn't find it. I had until 6pm est tonight to find better or settle for the 3 and 1.

Well it pays to keep checking because at 5pm, 1 hour before I would've been struck I found a 1BDRM OF for 4 nights.

What makes it especially nice is surprisely I was able to use the MOD code for a nice discount. So for $17 extra per night I went from a 3 and 1 OV units in the original to 4 straight nights in the new section. This will be our first stay in the new section so we're looking foward to it.

Do you think that if you had found that four night reservation a later day, if you called they would not have let you change it without waiving the penalty?

I'm surprised you got to use MOD in the new section (it is our favorite).

It said I would incur the one night fee in the rate rules but I am platinum so maybe they would've waived it.

Yes very happy with the MOD since it hadn't been working before that shot. I think what happens is like me some have or want to release reservations before the 14 day depoist rule kicks in, so they release the MOD discount rooms they had been holding and there they were for me.

It doesn't reference the percentage on our reservation and now the rooms are no longer available so not sure.

I thought it only said 20%. Why would it be different? Not that it matters I'm pyched for the 4 straight nights in an 1BDRM OF.

Joe- It's great that you got what you wanted- that's what counts. It is especially nice that you won't have to move for a single night- all that packing up and unpacking, and being roomless for part of a day, could easily put a damper on the day.

I think the MOD discount is always 25% or 35% if you pay with the Marriott VISA, but I could be wrong.

Have a great trip!!

Did I at one point read someone had gotten 45%?If so, how did that work?

There is a 45% discount for Premiere Plus members of the DC using their Marriott VISA. There is a 40% for Premiere members of the DC and 35% for any owner, with 10% of the discount based on using your Marriott Visa- otherwise the discounts are 35/30/25% respectively.

Their system might be a little wack.

I too have been checking often. This afternoon a two bedroom ocean front opened up for my dates, which is really a Thurs-Thurs week. Booking for the week the only discount offered is the advance purchase no refund rate. Ouch. Booking the Sun-Thurs dates, the Marriott Elite 40% discount is offered (M11). It would be fascinating to see the algorithm they use to calculate what discounts will be offered when, there is much more availability for Thurs-Sun than Sun-Thurs. Of course I will keep checking.

I know it is now past your booking cancellation window, but if your extra nights were Sun-Thurs, it might be worth checking the elite code too Joe.
