THANKS everyone who participated. I agree, this is a good time to put it to bed. Special thanks belong to momeason for starting 'it' and keeping 'it' on track when 'it' wandered.

Yep, everyone behaved and talked about the mechanics of it and not how it got here.

Too bad, because there's probaly more good info on how to use but we'll have to look for it elsewhere.

That run was WAY LONGER than I figure it to last.

It did motivate me to get in before the deadline and AFTER my lovely 2.5 hours TODAY on the phone to figure out WHAT my current company was doing to me -- it was a VERY GOOD THING that I acted to get something else in place. :cheer:

Thanks to ALL the posters --- it helped me. I won't have a problem by having NOTHING after April 30th ...

What a slimey business my old company was ... SO ANTI-HELPFUL! Or was it just so totally (and still in) for corporate profit.:annoyed:

Definitely one of the most lightly moderated threads ever on TUG and, not coincidentally, one of the most interesting threads ever. Fortunately, the major participants mostly behaved themselves until the last few pages, when even I was surprised by the political nature some of the comments.

I learned a lot either directly from the thread, or by looking up answers to questions that were generated by the thread.

Anyhow, hat tip to ace2000 for remaining even-keeled throughout, and to the mod's for allowing the thread to have more freedom than typical .

... .

I have found this to be the case in many threads like questions about Social Security benefits.

Many people will post links so others can look up specifics relative to them on their own.

That's where a forum like this is soooo helpful.

I'll probably make another run at discussing 'it' during 'Open Enrollment' time in the Fall. There will be less temptation for forbidden or controversial stuff about 'it'. Whatever 'it' is. :)

Ha ha, and here I thought this thread was going to be about the Chilean earthquake :D

Anyway, I agree with all the above. It was a great thread, and many thanks to the participants and especially to the mods who let it last as long as it did. Hopefully it can be a model of how to discuss controversial issues on TUG while remaining civil and informative.

Let's do it again sometime!

Ha!!! I thought it was going to be the Marriott Aruba Hell Week rehashed!!!

It was fun, it was interesting, and I'm sorry it needed to end the way it did. Remember, do your own research, read original material whenever possible (don't believe all you read or hear from 'news' sources). And, it's important to know how and what occurred throughout, so be sure to call out all those who attempt to revise history! Drama, spin and bias have no part in the facts of a matter - that's only for those interested in the commentary, but so often they are mixed up and confuse people.

Indeed a very educational thread. Thanks to all but especially momeason who volunteered to help people and provided a great deal of firsthand experience with the law as applied to different situations.

+1 on momeason on her commitment and the fact that she started the thread.

No parting words of wisdom from me... I think it's pretty obvious I enjoyed the debate. I tried to always be mindful of the fact that some of the readers might currently be dealing with their own serious health issues and obviously this is a very important and emotional issue for them. If you felt that I went too far at times and felt like I crossed the line, I sincerely apologize. I honestly thought about that a lot. Thanks to everyone who participated in the thread - either actively or passively.

Ok I'll bite

I thought this was an April Fool's prank but it was posted April 3. Just what is everyone talking about...?

Yeah Ken555 and ace2000 went Rambo on each other and got it shut down.

Too bad. I enjoyed it while it lasted.

Thank you Ken and Ace. It was time anyway.
LOL, now you can start a new thread on something. (Right Denise?) :D

Thank you Ken and Ace. It was time anyway.

After Open Enrollment ended for this season, there was nothing constructive to discuss. Leaving only the 'how we got here', and that could lead nowhere but into forbidden territory.

A 'time out' is the best thing to happen now.

It is an interesting subject and a recap of how well its working after some time would be even more interesting, imo.

Guess I was late to the party! It did have a pretty good run as a thread.

Funny though how mentioning FOXNews gets people's hackles up. As though they're the only ones who could possibly have some sort of "agenda".

I guess you were. And yes, it did as long as we kept to the subject.

Laura, after open enrollment ended, there was (is) little about the law to discuss- except actual health problems, and nobody wants to hear about my- or anybody else's aches and pains.

After 4/1, that just left the 'how we got here' part, and that can't help but go down the forbidden political road.

Doug is right. Let's not go there.

Please, let's not start this up again.

Funny, that you reacted to MY post that way…but not gnorth's <<<Ha!!! I thought it was going to be the Marriott Aruba Hell Week rehashed!!!>>>

Thanks for proving my point.

 :wall: proves nothing that I see :ponder:

Yeah Ken555 and ace2000 went Rambo on each other and got it shut down.

If that was "Rambo" you don't want me to post when I really believe in something. :)
