Has anyone heard of or done business with Island Consulting Realty? They sell timeshares on commission. $1500 per sale.

Hi Michael,
The name is actually Island Consulting Realty. It's a one man shop run by a guy named Tom Tubbs. He seems ok, never did a transaction through him personally, but I know that he was an original broker of Sunset Ridge Units on St. John many years back. About 250 unit weeks were sold (not all, but a number by him). He's been around a LONG time.
I find his prices too rich for my blood, probably because of the $1500 that is tacked on. I don't know his selling record these days.
So he is legit for sure, effective I do not know at his prices.

I've found him to be straightforward but have never actually bought or sold anything through Tom Tubbs. There is one TUGger who might chime in who was unhappy with their dealings with him.

Are you a buyer or a seller? $1500 is a huge commission to pay,as a seller, when there are many sites you can use that are DIY for <$100.

If you decide to deal with this company be sure you read the contract VERY carefully (this is true of every resale company BTW) and do not rely on verbal representations of things not in the contract.
I agree $1,500 is a pretty heavy commission - you could likely do better on Bidshares, Redweek, Myresortnetwork or eBay by doing it yourself.

Tom's site is for those who want to wash their hands of the sale, pretty much. They just want someone to handle it all and he does. He will do everything and assists with financing info I think (using tammac). His price comes off the sale and some folks are happy to use his service. The rest of us smarties do it ourselves! For what it is worth his commission amount has not risen for over 5 years...
