Is this the right forum to ask questions about Embarc?

My cousins have asked me to help them dispose of an Embarc timeshare their parents have. They are unable to travel anymore and they just want to get rid of it.

From what I can determine, Embarc was purchased by Hilton Grand Vacations, but it is still separate from HGVC. From the info my cousins have sent me, they have 12,000 annual points (they sent me a screenshot). and it looks like there isn't a "home resort" like the other timeshares I am familiar with.

I looked here and on Redweek and I just don't get the resell value (if any) for this timeshare. If someone can point me in the right direction that would be appreciated. They just want to get rid of it as quickly as possible. If it were part of HGVC, I would take it just for the points, but since it seems they are separate from "traditional HGVC" I don't want to invest in another timeshare system.

TIA for any insights on the best way to dispose of this for my aunt and uncle.

@cd5, will be able to advise you. She is very knowledgeable with the former Embarc resorts. You are correct, there isn't a home resort. It is a trust type point system. Most of the former Embarc resort have been rebranded as HGVC but it is a TOTALLY separate club by itself. MFs are around 15¢/pt (USD). When the Legacy HGVC points were increased by 1.6x, the Embarc points were adjusted by 50x to put everyone on the same point scale. So 12,000 Embarc points is a good number of points. I think that I have repeated everything correctly that I gathered from @cd5. I know that she stated the resale value but I can't remember that. I would think that this would be an easy sell (with some resale value) because I know that the former Embarc properties are comparable to HGVC standards (thus the reason that they were rebranded to HGVC).

There is a FB page where most of the Embarc members are. You would probably be better selling there in that forum if it allows such things.

You can also find the Embarc rules and point chart here:

Note: The OP was asking for advice. This isn't an advertisement forum. Please use a PM, if you would like to discuss purchasing.

Embark has value, so I would definitely consider taking it over or doing significant research before moving forward

HI! You'll have to ask them to join www.facebook.com/groups/clubintrawestowners (or join on their behalf, mentioning that and the reason when you answer the questions for admittance).
Once accepted into that group you'll be able to automatically join the ads group. Do a post to ask for the url.
If they have unused points, those could be sold at maintenance fee cost or less with the membership (15¢) and the membership itself for between 20 to 60¢ per point depending on how quickly you want this done.
I would encourage making sure the post stays near the top of the page by checking it and adding comments to it regularly until the sale is done. Transfering a contract is $250usd and the instructions are pinned in the featured posts at the top of the page.
There are over 4,000 active members in that group who do transactions either permanently buying points or "renting" them from other members for one-time use so someone wanting to sell within the normal values generally has no problems, they go fairly quickly.

Definitely - if they were given the points it is easy to resell later. Embarc members can trade with Interval, SFX Resorts and others (not RCI). Even if one doesn't use it every year, it's easy to rent points to another member to put on an existing reservation or to rent a booking a member has already made. There are very few extra fees with Embarc, guest certificates are free for example.

Thanks for all the quick help on this. Good to know they don't have to just "give away" the Embarc timeshare. Will check out the facebook page
