I’m planning for March 2026 and feel I have good chance of getting one of the top rated resorts like Four Seasons, Marriott Canyon Villas or Westin Kierland if I put in a request now. Curious your past experience for this time in Scottsdale and the resorts. TIA.

March is high season at Scottsdale. Good weather and spring training.

This is a tough reservation even for owners. There have been times I was unable to get my first choice dates at Kierland even when I was on the computer at the stroke of midnight a year in advance.

If you hope to get this through Interval, MCV would be your best chance, but your odds will be much better with a Marriott trader for preference. Ditto for Kierland with a Vistana trader.

Got it. Thanks. I will put in a request anyway (no preference) but lower my expectation. Is early June already too hot in the area? The availability for June 2025 is wide open.

March is a high demand period. If you're looking for an efficiency, you may have a decent chance. If you're looking for a 2 BR, then your odds are slim. If you are exchanging a home unit that is not "in network" with your "target" destination then your odds decrease further (I'm referring to the in-network preference). In Interval I've never seen a Four Seasons or Kierland 2 BR unit during March, but I suppose that miracles can happen. I'd suggest that you consider widening your search considerably and include other timeshares..

June ? It's a crap shoot in terms of temperature. Early June might work, but you really don't know if the weather would be 80s or above 110 F during the hottest part of the day. I once experienced 122 F. and it was challenging. When it's hot, you do your outdoor things in the morning or evening and spend a lot of time in the pool.

Yeah the odds are low but I find the resort choice acounts for at least 80% of joy of a trip, especially with a wife and a kid. I hate to hear "crap why do I have to stay here for a week" from the other half even though I am a fairly easy-going person. BTW, we just stayed at DSV for Christmas for the first time, and everyone's like "wow" and it's the best trip ever, even though we got pre-warning from a friend that "Palm Springs is a boring place" (my guess now is they had to stay in a cramped hotel room 'cause they don't know anhything about TS).

So I am not going to comprise on this, lol. I could spend my time elsewhere or come in another time.

We all get out of town in June. Not a good time to visit.

If you liked DSV (I own at DSV1, DSV2 and Shadow Ridge), you'll also like Marriott Canyon Villas. Even though I own in Marriott and get the M Preference, I find it nearly impossible to get MCV in March. I hope that you get MCV because you'll love it. I like it more than Four Seasons Troon.

In May we're going to Palm Springs for 2 weeks. :cheer: :whooopie::hug

Fantastic. Think I will agree with you even though I've never been to MCV. We all loved the magnificent JW next to DSV, inlcuding tons of activities for kids. We strided there every day for food as well. I think MVC has the same set-up.

Yeah, will try my luck.

March is great but crowded. It is highest of the high season. My favorite time is after Easter. Late April/May is warm but not boiling and all the snowbirds are gone. June is a crapshoot. Could be nice. Could be insanity heat.

The only difference at MCV is that there is no shuttle to the JW Marriott hotel. They are also heavy on blackout dates. So if you go during peak seasons, you may not be able to use the facilities at the JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge. There is also a parking fee at the JW Desert Ridge, so you can't just drive over unless you are willing to pay for parking or valet. You can walk, but it is a bit of a chug.

March is a great time to visit - we’ve loved it each time we’ve gone. Trading in through II will be tough. If you like the co-located hotel and resort idea Kierland works great and has a nice lazy river at the Westin next door. Easy walk or you can shuttle over.

No 2BR in II at Kierland though.

Thanks. Good to know that Kierland works that way too, and also beats Four Seasons?

Trading into Four Seasons Troon North in Scottsdale is near impossible in March, more impossible than trading into Kierland. It is as almost as difficult as winning the Mega Millions or Powerball. :) Westin Kierland's location cannot be beaten. You can walk to the hotel or to Kierland Commons and Scottsdale Quarter. Great restaurants and shopping. Four Seasons Troon North is very remote, other than golfing on location, it is far away from everything.

If March is so popular like everyone said, I might have better chance with Four Seasons since I don’t have any Marriott or Vistana preference, lol.

Four Seasons is a rare sighting in II, except for the hot months in July and August. You won't find them in March. March weeks in Scottsdale rent for huge $ and owners don't deposit into II when they can rent out for double and triple their maintenance fees.

You just reminded me to take a look at rental. It's actually not that bad for MCV (different story for Four Seaons), plenty of supply for March this year and about the same as MF. Like these

This is probably your best option if you want Scottsdale in March.

Kierland rents at a higher price; I get more for a one bedroom unit at Kierland than these numbers.

I live in PHX.
Agree with @Tucsonadventurer , June has been fairly hot last several years, so I usually head out this time of the year for the weekends; worker bee, so have to work weekdays. Agree, April or even early May are still ok but after Memorial Day, it usually is very hot.
Even at 2am, our temps in June through end August, are often 100, so even early AM hikes aren't fun (= are miserable, as the desert sun rises at 5a & starts cooking you). I head to Flag or Prescott in AZ (or UT or CO) usually at that time (as Sedona is also pretty hot).
Agree with all the other opinions as above.

Good input. I remeber like 12-15 years ago I visited Sedona during Memorial Day week, and felt chilly, and in summer, drove to Grand Canyan and never really felt that hot. Guess the tempature got inflation too.

Make sure you are prepared to be shell shocked when looking at rental car prices from the Phoenix airport in March. One trick we have used is to rent from an off-airport location, since PHX adds a huge tax when renting at the airport. We would just hop in an Uber for maybe $20 and pick up our car. You can even return the car to the airport for no additional fee. It brings those March rental prices down out of the stratosphere a bit.

We are heading to Sheraton Desert Oasis 3/8-3/15 for spring training and we are thinking that we are better off using Uber/Lyft to head to the stadiums, but we will check out the rates off airport. Thanks.

Hey @iftravel, I picked up a one bedroom at WKV first weekend in May (not restricted to school schedule for now).
I have an eplus on it and looking to move it to April if something opens up. Not sure how the temperature will look like in first week of May.
