We have 7000 pts to sell. We have used some of our 3500 pt contracts for 2026 but want to sell the other 3500z we have had them listed for a couple months on redweek. I heard we can deed them back for $400 to avoid maint for next year. Is that worth it?

Just "sell" them to a family member for $2.00/pt, Marriott will probably scoop up through ROFR. Better to get $7,000 than ZERO.

Your main problem is your points are competing against a glut of other points out there on the market. Too much competition. While you can sell individual Beneficial Interests, you seem to also have a large point amount made up under two deeds. Finding someone willing to pay that much cash for that many points. $2.50 to you and $3 per point to Marriott will take a very specific buyer. That is about $20K total. You can probably find someone willing to take them for $1 per point and Marriott will grab them via ROFR. You still get the $3500 though. The main thing is just competing against all the other point listings.

As dioxide said and you have probably seen on redweek there are just so many ads- some listing for less than $1 per point.
Those people either don’t understand rofr or are hoping for a buyer who doesn’t and they get rofr from MVC.
The likely hood that someone who understands and wants to actually own the points picks your ad is low.
Unless you can find a buyer on your own or employ an agent to make the sale for you.

If it were me I would spread the word among everyone I know, list everyplace I could and explore what the last date would be to initiate the MVC buyback before maintence fees are due again.
If you are sure you don’t want the points, don’t want to get into renting them out, might as well just get it over with.
Good luck.

So other issues you may be having. I think I see your ad and you have a June date. Most people like a Jan date so you don't have to think or if they are buying them to get to a level what them to match up to their other points. Also, buying them now means someone gets hit with maintenance fee now.

Off-month Abound points contracts still have maintenance fees due in Nov/Dec, not just the Jan 1 - Dec 31 ones. We had a May-to-May one and that's how it worked...we paid in November for use the following May.

Thanks. Learned something new. Still for me I only bought Jan points to match up with my week points.

Yes we have to much now. We were adding with the intention of being snow birds and even took a week from my sister within the last year then my husbands health took a turn and all of our plans have changed unfortunately. Our kids want some like our Hawaii weeks but can’t afford it all and don’t want the hassle of renting. Just trying to downsize to something manageable while we navigate this new chapter
