Interval Platinum Renewal?

I was about to book a getaway for the fall, but since my Platinum will expire before the travel dates Interval requires renewal of Platinum to get the discounted getaway price.

One of the "perks" of the renewal is a certificate for 50% off of a getaway. So my question is When will I receive the certificate? Does it come in the mail ? Or is it digitally added to me account?

I am curious as I would like to book back to back getaways and it would be nice to apply the 50% off to the 2nd week. Does anyone have any experience with this 50% off getaway promotion certificate?

Thanks

If it's similar to the promo I received, the cert came via snail mail and had a max $200 discount. I did not use mine before it expired. You might see it under the Rewards tab after the cert is generated in a day or two. Either way, you have to call to use it.

You couldn't use the code online in the coupon/promo code box?

Not that I recall. I didn't get a promo code, only a cert letter similar to ACs. I received the getaway bonus for renewing my personal membership after it lapsed for few months. I have an offer for 50% off a getaway now for renewing platinum late, but hopefully it'll be 50% off platinum after it expired for more than 4 months.

I just received my the renewal notice in the mail. The info on the coupon is 50% off a getaway up to $200 and can only be booked within 59 days of travel.

That's better than the Free Key Holder offer I just received (such a waste of money on paper and postage).

I had the 50% off getaway offer online, but it's gone now. I wonder if anyone has upgraded to Gold at 50% off and how soon 50% off platinum offer will appear.

I renewed at the 2 for 1 rate a few weeks ago. The offer came almost exactly 4 months after my expiration. No code needed.

I learned something today that I'd like to pass along.

My records show that I had upgraded my Interval membership to Platinum in early Dec 2023 for 1 year, and it was due to expire on Dec 3, 2024. That turned out to be incorrect, as you shall see.

I'm currently working on trying to arrange a trade using one of our deposited weeks. And if that trade works, we'd hopefully get a larger room than the room I'm using for the search. So I'm interested to renew my Plat membership because that would reduce the room size upgrade fee.

Recently I received 2 different mailers offering me a variety of different discounts for re-upping to Interval Platinum. So I phoned Interval today to speak to a rep. Perhaps a rep could dig up an even better offer? While I was waiting on hold, I signed on to the Interval website and checked. Yes, there was an online offer for 50% off a Platinum upgrade for either 1 year ($69) or 2 years ($139). I was about to select the 2 year online upgrade when a rep came on the phone.

Here's what I learned from the phone rep:
1. When you upgrade your membership either online or with a phone rep, the Interval computer system will automatically backdate your upgrade to the expiration date of your prior Platinum (and I assume Gold) membership. The phone rep told me that my Plat membership had actually expired in September 2024. So it's likely that my upgrade got backdated the last time I did this in early Dec 2023. And that helps to explain why I got the 50%-off upgrade offer - my Plat membership had actually expired about 3 months ago.
2. A phone rep has the ability to request that Interval NOT backdate your new membership upgrade. The phone rep can't do that themselves, but they can send a request for this. That is obviously an advantage because my new 2 year upgrade would hopefully then expire in Dec 2026 rather than Sept 2026. The rep said I should watch for a Plat membership card to arrive in the mail within a few weeks, and look to see if there's an expiration date listed. (We'll see about that. The current card that I have doesn't list any dates.)
3. If you renew online, there isn't any way you can avoid that backdating process, so it's better to call and speak with a rep. If your Plat upgrade expired a few months back, ask the rep to request that your new upgrade not be backdated.

I just booked a Getaway for a friend, it was cheaper to add Platinum than pay the standard member rate plus the guest cert. The only offer online was an AC. I chose the 1 year $139 option. The AC showed up right away in my certificates.

When clicking through the payment option it showed the full standard member price plus the guest cert. Shortly after I got the email showing the credit card charge, reduced to the platinum getaway cost plus the $139. My account now shows 4 free guest certs left.

My membership expires before Platinum so it will be interesting to see if I get any renewal offers in June. It's been a few years since I had Platinum so it wasn't back dated, perhaps it has to have expired within the term you are renewing.

I usually let mine expire and then in about 60 days they offer a deal for Platinum.

But it will still back date.

It has been known for quite some time that they back date the renewals. In fact, I understand that if it expired any time in the past four months, they will back date it. Thanks for the tip about calling and requesting it not be back dated when renewed. We often don’t get these offers because we have to renew before it expires in order to take advantage of the discounts offered on a future booking (upgrade fee or getaway discount.)
