You need to look at how you plan to use it and determine if these discounts outweigh the added cost. With that said, I don't really see any value in gold membership, regular or platinum is where it is. If you will buy two guest certificates in a year, buy three getaways, do three ore more unit size upgrades or any combination of two or more of them, then upgrade to Platinum.Interval international has 3 levels of membership (regular, gold and platinum).
