After owning timeshares for 20 years this is the first time I am trying the future request method. But... I own Marriott and I'm remembering that a trade TO another Marriott is as lower fee than standard. My request includes Marriott and others, and they are charging me standard exchange fee. If I do end up with a match of Marriott to Marriott, would II return the excess fee paid?

Yes, the fee for a Marriott to Marriott exchange is discounted. However, when you include non-Marriotts in your request, the excess fee paid is not refunded, if you get a match of Marriott to Marriott. That's why we try to limit our requests to Marriott to Marriott exchanges most of the time. CJ

Are your weeks enrolled? If you've owned for 20 years enrollment would be free (plus annual dues), and all equal exchanges and retrades M to M are free.

Is enrollment free? Don't you have to at least go through some type of webinar or sales pitch?

I guess your time costs something, but reports are the webinar is pretty painless. I sat through an encore debacle, so it seems easier than a pitch to me.

I think I'll do as suggested as request only Marriott, for the lower fee, and see what happens.

b2bailey, Remember that you can also request the Westins on Maui, as well as the Marriotts, now that they are in the same family, exchange-wise. Also, be sure to check availability manually at different times during the day, especially as early as possible in the mornings, since sometimes a match might slip through the cracks even though you have a request in place. Good luck and have fun planning your b/day celebration! CJ

As someone trying to figure II out before making a purchasing decision, I have a question that is the flip side of this coin. If you do a discounted Marriott to Marriott exchange, can you then use e-plus to trade for something outside the Marriott system? I assume if so, they charge you the increased exchange fee?

You can EPlus and you don't have to pay the difference in fees. Keep in mind though that some have reported reduced trading power with ePlus retrades.
