Google Chrome is now very close to becoming the world's most popular web browser.

Internet Explorer and Google Chrome are about to swap places in the charts as Microsoft's aging browser continues to quickly fall out of favor with many consumers.

The March 2016 usage data from NetMarketShares reveals that Google Chrome now has a 39.09 percent share of the browser market, less than 3.5 percentage points away from Internet Explorer's 43.40 percent.

Internet Explorer has fallen 1.39 percentage points in the past month while Chrome has risen 2.53 percentage points. It looks like Google is successfully attracting users away from Microsoft's browser at a rate that shows no signs of slowing down..."

I'm not a computer whiz but use Mozilla Firefox at home and Chrome when using the computer at the Library. IMHO both are way superior to Explorer.

I dumped Internet Explorer years ago in favor of Chrome. IE was just plain too slow. Chrome was much faster. I also have Firefox installed on a PC, but avoid it too as it seems as slow as IE.

Ditto --- and I certainly agree on all counts.
However, what I completely fail to comprehend in my technological ignorance is how or why one browser can be so perceptibly slower than another.
Can anyone explain this phenomenon briefly and in layman's terms to an admitted techno-idiot? :shrug:
