a buyer said they are interested in purchasing my points and he asked what the next step is. How do I know a buyer really is serious?

From here, I assume I contact a closing company? I was looking at either JRA or Timeshare Transfer.

Any feedback on getting to the next step is appreciated!

I am in the same spot. I generally do a background check of names, phone numbers, maybe co-relate a company they work for or investigate the name of their closing company they want to use.

I prefer to sell to an individual and NOT to those ebay companies that are going to flip it for a few hundred and charge someone $500 on closing. That's just me!

I like to talk with the person over the phone. That eases some concerns as well and depending on the purchase price, get a deposit.

Hope everything works out well!

Contact the Closing company and they will let you know what the next step is and what documents you need to provide.

Alot depends upon what services you need

If you are selling something that is worth enough to require an escrow then the 2 companies you have listed are both very good. If however you don't need an escrow to hold the funds then http://legaltimesharetransfers.com/ can handle the closing for around $115-$145 including the recording fee, plus if the resort requires a transfer fee that would be additional.
All three of these companies are very good, you can't go wrong, it is just a matter of paying for the service you require. .
