Why is Tapatalk popping up this morning to install this forum on this website?
I do not want to install it?

How do I stop it?

Are you using a mobile phone? I see that popup all the time when using TUG on my iPod Touch.

I do not know if you can stop it but if you hit the Continue Button and not the install Button the Popup will disappear for a while.

It pops up on my Samsung tablet, too.
I'll bet there's some sort of tie in between the two, or with Google.
Either way, I find it annoying, too..

What is Taptalk...

TapaTalk is a forum/BBS/newsfeed reader independent of your browser.
It may be useful as a mobile app, but it's actually redundant.

Tapatalk is an excellent app and many of us have been using it for many years on our mobile devices when accessing TUG.

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I acted liked, I was going to install it last night; then I hit the cancel button.
So far it has not appear since last night. It is very annoying. IMHO.

It is annoying to see it on every post of its users.

supposedly its related to the cookie on your device, clicking "no thanks" should update the cookie and not prompt you again to install the app.

however if your device is not set to accept or edit cookies, or the cookie for the forum has been corrupted and cannot be updated, it will prompt you repeatedly.

id think as an easy test, deleting the tugbbs.com forum cookie and then logging back in should give you the prompt one more time (and re-create the cookie)...to eliminate it from showing up again.

that said if you have configured your device or phone to disable cookies altogether, it might cause this also.

Thank you TUGBRIAN.

It was big back in the days of "newsgroups" before people migrated to web.

It's that old? I didn't hear about it until the public was carrying internet-capable phones.

If it goes back to BBS days, it sure was quiet about itself.

Actually, it's not. ... It was set up in 2014.
I had it confused with another newsreader.

Correct. Tapatalk is one of the best apps in the appstore for those of us who belong to multiple forums as it allows you to use a single app to homogenize your forums into one interface and manage forum subscriptions and forum threads you're participating in actively in a single pane of glass. I use it for all of my TUG forum interactions on my mobile device (which is about 50% of my posts).
