Hi!
We stayed in the Fairfield South Shore three years ago, and we thought it was lovely. The unit's layout is a little different than most timeshares we've visited. As you enter, the living room is ahead of you. It has a fireplace, entertainment center, and a sofa and chairs. The sofa is not a convertible. Instead, they have a murphy bed in a closet. The kitchen and dining room are to the left, and a balcony (or patio for ground floor units) is off the dining room. Rather than a barbeque area in the complex, each unit has its own small grill on the balcony. The bedrooms a down a small hallway to the right. They are not large but adquate. The master bedroom has a king size bed and its own small bathroom with a shower. The second/larger bathroom with bathtub is between the two bedroom. The second bedroom has twin beds, which is perfect for families, but two couples traveling together might not like this. There is also no direct access from the second bedroom to the second bathroom; you must enter the bathroom through the hallway. Again, some couples might not like this.
They have an outdoor pool that looked very nice, but we did not have the opportunity to use it. As we remember it, they also had two outdoor hot tubs, one by the pool, and one on the far side of the stream. They have a large community room with a pool table, ping-pong, seating, and a computer with free internet access. (They probably added more computers by now, but there was only one when we were there.)
Originally, South Shore was built as a Worldmark timeshare, but Wyndham/Fairfield now shares some of units. When we were there, the sign outside the resort only said Worldmark, so we initially drove past the place assuming it was another resort. However, they must have added the Wyndham name by now. Wyndham/Fairfield does not seem to own specific buildings because we were there for a family wedding, and our relatives were spread throughout the complex.
If you stay there, we recommend asking for a unit that overlooks the stream that runs through the center of the property. In our opinion, the view is a little nicer. We also recommend asking for a unit on the second or third/top floor because some ground floor units have patios that are partially below the surrounding land due to the hills. We heard that top floor units have cathedral ceilings, but we stayed on the second floor, so we can't be certain this is true.
If you have difficulty with stairs, we recommend contacting the resort to secure a unit that does not require steps. While all buildings have elevators, the hilly land makes it necessary to climb several steps (sometimes almost flight) to reach the elevator in most buildings.
We hope this helps.
