We recently purchased a timeshare in Puerta Vallarta, with the understanding that a buyer had been found for our old timeshare by an outfit called Grand Xcapes, only to find out after our return from vacation that no, there was no buyer, and that Grand Xcapes would attempt to sell our timeshare as soon as they received a $599 fee, never mentioned to us in the sales presentation. A little research determined that this company has a listed address in Houston, but telephone contact in Mesa AZ. After asking a few pointed questions of Alxis Anders of this company, and being told that there were 15 employees in the Houston office, when I asked for their phone # in Houston, she said she would try to find it, whereupon she handed the phone to a Max Peters, who informed me that they "didn't give that # out". Calls to a telephone operator and to the Better Business Bureau of Houston revealed no such business at the listed address.

If any of you have had dealings with this "company", we would very much appreciate hearing about your experience. Internet searches reveal next to nothing. We are attempting to cancel the sale, absent any plausible info as to the reputation of Grand Xcapes.

What did you buy in PV?

Are you still within the 5 days of signing?

Greg

We bought 2 weeks at Playa del Sol Club in PV, about 3 weeks ago.

You are unfortunately past the five-day rescission period. You probably won't find any reference in your contract to the sale of your old timeshare either. You may want to contact Profeco, the Mexican consumer protection office and file a claim for fraud, but you are bound by the written terms of your contract and not the verbal claims of the salesman.

Under no circumstances should you pay anyone $599 to sell your old timeshare. They won't sell it and you'll never hear from them again.

Stick around TUG, though, and learn more about how to use and enjoy your timeshares or how to sell your old one if that's what you want to do. Look at the information at the top of the first page of this forum about selling your old timeshare.
