I have a rug (8x10) on patio; which is covered by roof.. I leave it in tact throughout the winter. I live in PA...Do u pick up and store or leave in place?

We roll ours up and put it in the garage. Our deck is really dirty in the spring from all the open fields blowing dirt all winter long

Indoor / outdoor carpet is generally mfg. from polypropylene .

1) the colour is put in before it becomes a woven fibre / so it is a carrot not a radish = resistant to fading .

2 ) the form used in carpet fibre does not absorb moisture , which makes it highly mold and mildew resistant.

3) UV rays can eventually cause changes in colour if exposure is 24 / 7 ;and I believe can eventually lead to the fibre becoming more brittle . ( think- boat dock yellow rope that floats / it is made from polypropylene).

I have 2 indoor/ outdoor rugs that are inside our cottage that we close up all winter . I bought them
because of the mildew / mold resistance - and cleanability (and moderate $ price) . When we want to do a “spring cleaning “ - I bring them outside and hose them down , and then let them dry .

We clean ours in the fall, make sure it dries completely, then roll up and store in a shed for the winter. It’s definitely great for 3 seasons, but I wouldn’t leave it out over the winter.

We leave ours in place. A good quality outdoor rug doesn’t need to be put away. We’ve had ours on our covered deck for 12 years now and it still looks new. When we have the deck pressure washed in the spring he does the carpet at the same time.

I leave it. When it gets warm enough in spring, it gets a good wash and dry, as does the surface under it. I repeat after dealing with leaves in the fall.
