Thanks for posting this as I had missed this email. I wonder if it will also be possible to manage them through the Marriott/Bonvoy website vs just in the app. I don't know if this process makes anything that much better. I don't see how someone could steal a gift card from the existing site. It doesn't show gift card numbers.

It will certainly be easier to have things in one place instead of needing two different accounts...

Now if only more front desk staff knew how to actually apply and process gift cards.....

I have had trouble using all of the $1000 gift card I bought when they were 20% off during the pandemic, because many hotels don't know how to deal with them. I think I still have a couple hundred dollars left.

It turns out that, as @dioxide45 says, you can't get the card number and PIN from the existing gift card site, so anyone with an existing card had better still have the original email with the card details. Luckily I have mine.

There is a method on the site to report a card as lost. I don't know what happens when you do that, but I would suspect there is a way for a card to be replaced and be sent new card number and PIN? The site doesn't have any personal information other than name and email address though, so I don't know how they would reissue a card.

I saw that and thought I might have to do that – but then I found the original email. At one point, they had the ability to save the gift card to your Apple Wallet (on an iPhone) and I'd done that – but somehow it got lost when I upgraded to a new phone. That feature doesn't appear to be there any more on Marriott's site.

Luckily I have the original emails in my genius scan. I have used almost all of 1 original $1,000 and plan to use the second one in Hawaii this year.
