I'm a happy HGVC owner, do my legacy DRI owning parents have any options for their 3br ts?

My folks own a 3br mystic dunes week in July (resale purchased), the worst time to visit Orlando in my opinion.

I love my HGVC points (resale purchased) but hate to continuously see my folks let their 3br go unused because they don't want to visit in July. I've tried getting them to exchange via interval, but they think it's complicated and seemingly just want to use points like I can with HGVC.

Is their best option to just get rid of their current legacy weekly unit and buy a resale points based unit? I assume there is no decent way to covert a week based contract to points and resale would just be cheaper, right?

Thanks!

Have they tried DEX? Unlike II/RCI it is very easy to see what's available instead of 20 questions in Interval. No HGVC in DEX except Embarc but can access DRI inventory.

You may need to assist them in getting set up in DEX but similar to HGVC once they are in the system. They can search before depositing a week.

If they cannot handle DEX then they should not buy another HGVC timeshare because the level of difficulty to search is about the same.

A 3 bdrm at Mystic Dunes is a tiers 6 (the highest)
Wow, DEX tier 6 would open up all kinds of possibilities. What about Cabo Azul or HI or Whistler (in summer since I assume that they aren't skiers) or Sandestin or Palm Desert?

If they wanted to stay a different week or different unit size at Mystic Dunes they could book via DEX. There are currently 2147 weeks available for Mystic Dunes in 2025 available.

If they want to split their Tier 6 into two Tier 2s to get 2 weeks in a 1 bdrm standard there are 94 Tier 2 units available from Jan to December 20 2025.

There are more weeks available in 2026. This is a valuable week if they keep it.
