Vistana newbie here. We own a 2-bdrm resale WKV and I’m looking for a 2-bdrm that sleeps 5 in Kauai for the fall of 2024. I offered our 1-bdrm portion on a “request first” OGS, hoping to upgrade from a 1-bdrm up to a 2-, 3-, or 4-bdrm. Does it make a difference if I use the 1-bdrm villa or the 1-bdrm premium villa in my OGS? Should I change my OGS to “deposit first”?

II OGS: Exchanging 1-bdrm for 2-bdrm

A few thoughts:
1) it’s probably too early to get an exchange for fall 2024 as there likely aren’t many deposits that have been made yet.
2) are you requesting more than just Vistana resorts? 2BR at Vistana resorts are very rare to get through II. Vistana usually deposits individual sides of lock-off units so you won’t typically see a 2BR at many resort locations.
3) do you own a platinum deed at WKV? If so you would probably be in a stronger position to use your SO and book a 2BR that way (you’ll have to wait until 8 months prior to check-in though).
4) are you looking to exchange your 2023 usage or 2024 usage. This could be a factor as well.

1) Yes, I think it's too early too, but I love browsing for exchanges so I keep on mulling over the possibilities and what I should do to get them.

Now that I think about it, when I placed the Exteernal Exchange on the Vistana system, the system suggested that exchanging 2 1BRs was better so that's what I did.
3) We own a Gold Plus, not a Platinum.
4) We own an EOYO. I banked our 2023 week for use in 2024.

My ongoing search was cancelled a few days ago. At first, I thought I cancelled it accidentally. I tried to place the OGS again today and it won't let me request for 5 guests because I'm trying to search with my WKV one-bedrooom villa which only sleeps 4. Even if I tried using the one-bedroom premium villa, same result as that also only sleeps 4. This tells me that you cannot exchange a 1-bedroom and pay for an upgrade to a 2-bedroom although the OGS was accepted when I first placed it.
This is not a complaint. I think this is fair. A unit that sleeps 4 in exchange for another unit that sleeps 4, regardless of number of bedrooms. Just wanted to share the information. I guess I will have to use one of our other timeshares to get the 2-bedroom I am looking for and use the WKV 1-bedrooms for other vacations.
