If exchanging a 1br(max occupancy of 4) in II for a MVC(or other) 2br with $99 unit size upgrade, how come II does not let me complete a search once I change the # in party from 4 to 6 people? i get that it would not be possible to book studios or 1br for 6 people, but surely a 2br with $99 unit upgrade has max occupancy of 8 adults. Would really appreciate it if someone can clarify what to make of this.

Is it that the search assumes you will have max occupancy of what you are exchanging unless there is a unit upgrade option available, which if found allows you to bring as many people up until occupancy capacity without issue?

Thanks

II won't let you do a search using a number of people higher than the occupancy of your unit. That doesn't mean your search results won't return larger units, but you can't force it to only show you larger units by adjusting number of people.

I never bother to input party size, and generally leave it as one or two. I use the bar to pick bedroom size. It works for me every t

Thanks @VacationForever and @dioxide45 - my question essentially is whether the number of people indicated in the II exchange search is binding to how many can actually stay once exchanged. If i am exchanging a 1br with max capacity for 4 people into a different property 2br with unit size upgrade which allows for 8, can I have a total of 6 people staying with me, or will someone during check-in not allow more than 4 people(based on deposited property max)? never exchanged before so I want to make sure before inviting my parents to join that there will not be an issue with total of 6 checking in. i.e., just want to be assured that if max occupancy of exchanged into 2br unit is 8 people, then property is only checking to make sure its not more people than unit occupancy max only. Really appreciate the help!

YOu will be able to have the number of people in the unit up to the occupancy of the unit you book. It isn't limited to the number you put in for the search. I do the same as @VacationForever and just leave it at 1 for all searches.

Technically the number is not binding. Let's say a given resort has sleep 6 & sleep 8 two BR units, there is no way to guarantee you don't get the sleep 6 even if your unit deposited sleeps 8 for an OGS. You can for an instant exchange. Other than this issue, just selecting the unit size should handle most of the situations. II essentially generalizes to the least common denominator for each unit size based on PRIVATE occupancy. This is just another example of one needing to investigate the actual resort before deciding to accept an exchange or include that resort in an exchange request.
