Not sure if I should put this in the sheraton or exchagning forum so here we go. I just bought my first time share, an eoy odd at sheraton desert oasis. I may use it but loikely try and bank it, but I am wondering if I should buy a sheraton vistana resort eoy even year. I like to go to Orlando in January which is low season, would I be able to get a place on the getaways for either the same or less than mt mf would be on vistana? Thanks for the input.

Two comments: a) Second half of January in Orlando is no longer regarded as low season which is reflected in II Getaways pricing. Lowest Getaway prices are usually November to about Dec.20 or so. b) While there is no way of predicting Getaway prices at Orlando in January, prices will vary depending on the resort and unit size. You did not say what size unit you will require but I have no doubt that there will be availability in some Orlando resorts, not necessarily at Vistana. Take a look at II website to see what's on offer for Jan. 09 at this time but that will most likely change with time.

I moved your post to the Starwood Board, because as a Starwood owner, you will have a 3 day priority in II for other Starwood Exchanges. So you would be able to see and exchange for the 2 Vistana Resorts online on the II website, 3 days before non-Starwood owners can.

There are a couple of current threads on exchanging SDO here as well.

You definitely will get a great price in January through Getaways. The system works well. Vistana is a very EASY trade, too, therefore, it is a bargain resort for Getaways. The deals on Getaways are amazing, and I think it is not so good for the timeshare owner who pays high fees on a timeshare. :(

Thanks for the input, I do not have access to II yet as I just bought the other day on ebay. Once I get it I will look into it, but from the sounds of it I should be able to get a 2 bedroom in Orlando in sheraton or even marriott at the start of Jan for less than the 700 or so dollars my MF would cost at vistana. Also hoping I may be able to trade into dvc with my sdo, but I may find that next to impossible and have to buy DVC. Thanks

Actually, that's not so. Right now a Feb, 21-28 Getaway 2 bdr. week at Vistana is listed at $885, the same as Parkway Int'l early Jan. week. A 2 bdr. Marriott Gr. Vista week in Jan.09 is offered at $985. There are no Vistana Jan 09 Getaway weeks at this time.
As I said before, January Getaways are more expensive than November - December weeks and the selection is limited.
