I am relatively new with my Marriott timeshare weeks. I own two consecutive red weeks in Orlando. I am seeking to deposit my 2014 weeks to II.

The MVCI website offers several options including II Exchange - Marriott Deposit and II Exchange - Owner Deposit. Can anyone comment on benefits and concerns associated with each approach? I am tempted to go straight to Marriott Deposit as it appears significantly easier for a newbie like me.

While I am writing this note, I am enjoying one of my 2013 weeks at Marriott Grand Chateau while I host family. I am very happy with the vacations I have exchanged through II, including a bonus week in Cancun last October.

If you are exchanging the weeks, pick the II Exchange - Owner Deposit option. That should give you the option to reserve your own week for deposit giving you the ability to reserve a prime week.

You can also just reserve for occupancy and deposit the weeks with II. Don't pick the Marriott Deposit option.

I also recommend the owner deposit option but for a different reason. I am not convinced that the differential trading power between weeks in the same season is enough to affect many trades. However, I always choose owner deposit because you can reserve a week later in the year and have more time in which to complete your trade. Two years after a January week comes a lot faster than two years after a December week.
