I was offered the same:
My regular expires June 2018 - no offer given
My platinum expires June 2017 - 10% off for the once year. A $13.90 savings. Think I will pass.

Is the gold or platinun membership worth it?

I would say that now with the new upgrade fees, it does make it pay for itself faster if you do a lot of exchanges and are often upgrading in unit size. Just three upgrades comes close to covering the cost. We have also used the Entertainment coupons a few times.

I don't see free upgrades on the list of benefits for either Gold or Platinum. Is that just a failure to update their website?

Upgrades aren't free. You get a $20 discount for being Gold and a $40 discount for Platinum.
