If I sell my contract, what happens to RCI points?

I have multiple contracts and am considering selling one of them. I have some points that were deposited to RCI last year (I have no idea which of my contracts those points would have been associated with). If I sell my Wyndham contract, what happens to the RCI points? Can I still use those? Do they go with the contract?

Also, is there a good tutorial on TUG for how to use RCI points? I have 124K with RCI and am trying to figure out their system.

Thanks.

Richard

If you are keeping at least one contract, the wyndham member number dosent change and neither will your RCI account...at least thats been my experience

as far as learning how to use your rci account thats associated with your wyndham account... I dont know of any, but its not that complicated.. Access your RCI account through the Wyndham portal and you will see the number of Wyndham points you have deposited, and you can search available inventory which will be priced in Wyndham points

You can also access youe RCI account directly. You wont see your Wyndham deposits, but you can deposit non wyndham weeks and see your deposits in terms of TPU and search available inventory, priced in terms of TPU

The inventory ought to be the same whether you search through the Wyndham portal or search directly, but Ive been told its not

Just to clarify, they are Wyndham points deposited into the RCI portal (just because RCI Points are a completely separate currency). If you sell some contracts but not all, and still maintain your Wyndham account, I believe those points should remain in RCI. If you were to sell all of your contracts and no longer have a Wyndham account, you would also lose access to RCI and the points there would essentially go poof.

In terms of using your points in RCI, the best way to figure it out is to log into the RCI portal and see what the points requirements are for locations and timeframes you're interested in. There is a fixed points grid that governs what points are required for what size unit, and as you will see by looking at it several options are at 126K, while you have 124K deposited - so if you find yourself wanting to exchange for one of those levels (e.g. a 1BR in prime season) you'll need to deposit some more points. Ultimately, it's often helpful to set up an ongoing search a year or more in advance for a particularly desirable location or season, because what shows up in open inventory is often the leftovers.
