I've been trading in Interval for many years, actually I think I'm pretty good at it. I am lucky enough to have unlimited re-trades with Marriott and Westin, and I use them very often. So today I found a good amount of inventory in Maui for August 2024. I noticed 3 back-to-back-to back weeks that I wanted to get, so per my usual, I did the exchange for one of the weeks, and then did a couple re-trades to see if there was something better, and there was not. I gave up on trying to get the 3 weeks and decided to instead trade for September instead of August, thinking it would be cooler in September, so I did the re-trade without double triple checking. Imagine my horror to find out that instead of September 2024, I had actually re-traded from August 2024 for September 2023, with arrival date this week. Huge mistake! And now to re-trade for anything else, that week is restricted to 30 days out. Simple mistake but huge cost. My DH suggested that we [he] call Interval and see if they could help. Imagine my surprise, and relief, when she said that within 24 hours, she could just cancel the whole thing, and return my original week back into the account. What a lifesaver! I thanked her profusely. It never occurred to me that was an option.

That is good to know. Seems to be as long as the initial trade is in 24 hours you are good. If you had been sitting on an Eplus from more than 24 hours ago, you probably would have been out of luck.

Life is like a box of chocolates...

Good for your for making the call. I didn't have great luck with a person at II once, when I did a retrade accidentally to the wrong date.

You are very lucky to have gotten a wonderful II agent.

I was yold trades done within 7 days of checkin are final.

I got caught once when I made a trade for checkin within 7 days. Called to cancell within an hour and was told that trades done within 7 days of check in are final and not subject to the 24 hour cancellation rule.

Perhaps since the first trade wasn't within 7 days of travel, the limitation didn't exist?

??? As I booked one trade within 7 days to see if I could use it knoqing that i could cancel within 24 hours. Found out that trades within 7 days do not have the luxury of cancellation within 24 hours.

10spro trade was within 7 days I believe as 10spro posted on Sept 23 2023 and the trade was for Sept 2023. Maybe it wasn't?

Can you retrade within 7 days if you are part of vacation club?
If you are talking about Marriott Vacation Club and retrading for $0 Marriott to Marriott/Vistana or Vistana to Vistana/Marriott, yes you can do that up till 11:59pm the day before checkin. The same should be true of any retrade, just that others you would be paying a new exchange fee.

I think the difference with the OP was, that the first exchange was for more than 7 days out. It was for Aug 2024. So even though they retraded for September 2023 (less than 7 days), they were still able to cancel based on the initial exchange.

Ok got it and that might be the difference. Mine was a brand new trade within 7 days of check in.

That is the case, first trade was Aug 2024, re-traded in error for Sep 2023, maybe I got lucky with the II agent or maybe the 7-day rule applied to the first exchange. Either way, I am so thankful not to have to kick another week down the road due to limited 30-day window.
