I tried to cancel before the 7 days but seems now I will be an owner. Any tips where to start to at least get the most of out MVC?

We started a contract last week in Hawaii, tried to cancel before the 7 days but seems mail screw that up.

Now, we vacation pretty often and we may be able to get the most out of this. But need some tips and tricks, appreciate it.

How did the mail screw it up? Did you not rescind on time and send the letter return receipt, so you know they received it?

Why do you think you are stuck with it?

yep, only matters when you mailed it...not when it arrives!

still have the receipt from the post office?

OP is like a ghost in the night.

And even if you don't have a receipt; it only matters when you mailed it, i.e. the postmark. The recipient doesn't have to let you know they received it, they just have to rescind the purchase. It can take a couple of months. So if you mailed it on time, be patient. Don't screw up the rescission by using it.

I was really excited about the ownership, and it made sense to us since we go on vacations twice a year with a family of four or more. However, after learning about the difficulty of making reservations and the uncertainty regarding inheritance, we decided to pull the trigger and rescind.

You mailed it on time. That is all that matters. Give it 30-45 days and the cancellation should be processed. If they do not, then use the receipt to contest the charge on your card before the 60 days is up (may be longer depending on which company issued the card).

Once that is processed, come back here, learn about the system (and other systems) , and buy something on the resale market that will fit your travel for pennies on the dollar.

You are going to be even more excited when you discover you can have the same thing for pennies on the dollar if not completely free on the resale market!

stick around and do some reading while it sinks in that you just saved yourself thousands of dollars and you will likely find a timeshare ownership that fits your needs even better at a tiny fraction of the price you were about to pay!

Your post is going on the assumption that it is received. Mail can still get lost. If you don't have proof that it was mailed and they never receive it, that is a problem.

Follow up with a phone call, fax and an email showing proof you mailed it on time.

Not necessary unless there is a contest or the mail was not delivered at all. Right now, there isn't one. The OP has the receipt and tracking. The cancellation was mailed within the allotted time and the tracking shows it was delivered (the delivery date doesn't matter).

Many here, myself included, would say don't call or answer answer any calls from the sales team as their sole target will be to try to get you not to cancel. And they are pretty good at it too

I agree. Don't give them a reason to hook you back in. If they fell for it once they are more likely to fall for it on the second try.

It is exciting to be an owner and we have had wonderful vacations with our ownership. Once you have had the opportunity to research and see all the resale options as well as finding something that is much more budget friendly, come back ask more questions. There is a wealth of information on this site. We are owners of a deeded week and points. We did rescind in 2019 on adding more points, and we have no regrets.

Deeded weeks for me are working great, especially great if you love the Marriott brand, and I definitely do love the brand. Buying deeded weeks in places you would like to go at least half of the time is great. If you love Oahu and Ko'Olina, buy a resale at Ko"Olina. If you love Palm Desert, buy something there in Platinum season. If you love Orlando, don't buy Orlando Marriott. Yes, that is what I said.

Agree with the deeded weeks especially if you can vacation for 7 nights and checkin on Friday to Sundays. I just started trading deeded weeks this year and can see how it is addicting. I started to think I don’t have enough weeks to trade 😂

We love Orlando and own weeks in Orlando. We just don't use them to go back to Orlando.

If you enjoy a 7 day resort vacation where you can relax and take your time visiting different destinations, then a deeded week works really well. We have had many great vacations with our grandkids in a 2 bedroom Marriott and now that they are adults, we split our lock-off and have two one week vacations by ourselves.
We hope you enjoy whatever you purchase as much as we have enjoyed ours.
