Hello, I have 24 hours to cancel exchange so basically till early tomorrow morning. I had 1 bd that expires mid of January 2025 so today I exchanged into Hyatt Windward Jan 4-11. Reviews are mostly good but not about location. It is just for 2 people, we might invite someone to go with us as it's 2 bedrooms. Should I keep it? Only been there once, not at the resort just in the area and loved it so much. Planning to flight into Miami, rent a car and enjoy week at the resort. Any trip I can take it there or short cruise maybe? Thank you for recommendations.

We stayed at Beach Club and biked past Windward. It's a bit windy, very nice pool area. The location is fine-across from the beach [Key West does not have big sandy beaches]. It's about 3 miles to the center of downtown, a longish, but fine, walk or an easy bike ride. I think it's a fantastic last minute exchange. I'd definitely keep it.

Never stayed there, but I think it is a good option. Depends on the type of vacation you prefer. Key West Transit has a live bus tracking app that could be useful to you. And besides the Duval Street action, there is Stock island near by. You could take the Loop form old town to the south/east end of Duval and cab/uber/walk from there also. There are bike lanes on some of the major roads, Golf carts are an option but like cars costly and difficult to find parking. And you are close to Robert...go pay him a visit LOL.

Thank you. I kept this exchange so it’s mine and I’m getting very excited. I red too that it’s windy area. I need to plan our trip now:)
I wonder if there is parking fee or resort fee?

Thank you for recommendations. Will research Stock island. Not sure yet who is Robert, lol

I found out from my reservation that my unit is “5512”. Can someone tell me if it is a good location, please. It is on first floor in building 5. I really hope it is not a parking lot view.

I read too that it’s windy area.

Windward Pointe. Are you sure what you read was factual and it wasn’t confirmation bias on your part? The time share salesperson told me there was a nice, light breeze much of the time.

We have stayed there in building 2, all the balconies face the inner courtyard and pool so no parking lot views. There is a very small beach next to the boat dock, I sat on the dock and enjoyed a cigar at sunset, it faces west.

We enjoyed the botanical garden just north across the inlet, there is another one in an old fort on the Atlantic coast.

We took a sunset sail cruise that included snacks and wine tasting.

There is a very good Cuban restaurant in town, and a seafood market with fresh catch (it's a converted old gas station), try the "pinks" shrimp.

I'm not sure you will necessarily be kept in the same unit number on your confirmation when doing an II exchange. We stayed at Windward Pointe several years ago. The location isn't great, next to the airport. There is no beach across the street, but there is one down quite a ways toward town. There is a hop on hop off trolly stop at the hotel (Hampton Inn?) next door, so you can use that to get around if you like. Parking is difficult and expensive down town. I do have several videos from our stay there on my YouTube channel.

We rode bike there several times. It was fairly windy. I’d need to wear my hair pulled back, but not like my pool towel would blow off my chair. It would not affect my choice to stay there. And, to correct prior post, oceanfront, beach down the street. Key West in Jan sounds great!

Let us know if you do get that unit. My experience with Hyatt is that you do get the unit assigned in the II reservation, but that may not hold true universally in the Hyatt system, as things can happen...

For future references, we stayed there about 7 years ago. We rented bicycles for the week and that was fine for us as we commute by bicycle back home. I would not recommend trying to talk from there to the old town as that would be a pretty much entire island walk and would be quite long.

I have to amend my reply after reading Dioxide's reply, I was under the impression there were only 2 locations, down near Mallory Sq and just over the bridge as you enter Key West (Beach House). I didn't know of this one near the airport on the Atlantic side. We stayed at Beach House. Sorry for the confusion, on my part.

The Cuban restaurant I would recommend is El Siboney.
