I have a time share. It was a gift. I want out but have zero idea of how. I’ve never used it and have paid maintenance fees for a long time. Any real advise? I’m very Leary of paying someone to “sell” it..

Don’t pay anyone to sell it. That is a scam.
We need way more information to advise you. What timeshare is it? What are the annual dues? What is the season? Is it a week or points, etc.

I don’t think that’s going to have much if any value. There dont’ seem to be any completed eBay auctions for it, indicating to me that it is not commonly selling. You could try giving it away on the TUG giveaway forum. If that doesn’t work, you can try contacting the resort and/or HOA to see if they will accept a deedback. If that doesn’t work, your only final option is to default and let them foreclose.

Do not under any circumstances pay anyone an upfront fee who promises to sell or otherwise get rid of your timeshare. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THOSE COMPANIES IS A SCAM.

Foreclosure of a timeshare for unpaid maintenance fees is not the end of the world and is better than paying maintenance fees in perpetuity for something you’re not using.

Most timeshares are worth little or nothing.

You can try listing on TUG specifically in the FREE TIMESHARE FORUM and maybe someone will bite on it.

Another alternative is to place it on eBay with a starting bid of $1 and let the high bidder take it off your hands.

When you find a taker be sure to use: www.LTTransfers.com

LT Transfers will put the deed in the name of someone else once you find someone that wants it. Very good at what they do!

Best of luck!

You can list on free timeshare forum and offer to pay closing and transfer. Maybe offer incentives, like seller paid closing and transfer, free useage, or/and a gift card upon completion. This will make your listing stand out and help to insure you stand out from other listings.

Guys, slow down. The OP needs to clarify exactly what they own. Seems this is Vacation Village at Williamsburg formally known as Williamsburg Plantation. If this is a summer week, it is valuable to some people for staying as well as for trading. Some people even like the winter or holiday weeks. The OP will not be able to collect any cash but someone might be willing to cover the closing/transfer cost.
@RGJIM fill out as much information in the questionnaire below and you will get a more accurate response.

1. Resort Name
2. Resort Location (address)
3. Fixed Week / Floating Week / Number of Points (and specify what system)
4.frequency (every year? every other year?)
5. unit size (ie bed/bath/view)
6. Annual Maintenance fees
7. Date the annual maintenance fees are due each year (or indicate if paid monthly)
8. date the NEXT maintenance fee bill is due
9. Number of Points and the frequency (every year? every other year?)
10. Season if applicable (high demand etc)
