With the recent wildfires check what roads are accessible, Carlsbad and San Diego did not get impacted. If you are flying in to San Diego you will be ok. If flying into LA some roads may be impacted. Check the California Highway Patrol (CHP) for road closures.
I went there about 2 years ago. They have 1 restaurant on site, check to see if Hyatt brought the restaurant up to the Hyatt standard. When I went I thought the Salmon was a bit overcooked, however everybody has individual tastes. They have a theater, check to see what is playing and get tickets ahead of time. They have an electric bike tour for first time visitors, I suggest to do the tour. the fitness center was well equipped. They quite a number of pools and they were great, try to request a room near a pool if that is your thing. Our place was on the first floor at the top of the ridge with an outdoor patio, it was quite beautiful and peaceful. There are a couple of breweries nearby. The seaside town of Carlsbad is a 30 minute drive away and has an incredible Italian restaurant right at the beach, I highly recommend.
