Also, we were interested in using points to allow our nanny to stay for one week while we're staying in a separate unit at Hyatt Mountain Lodge. Two questions follow.

Our nanny (due to pre-existing plans she can't check in on Saturday ) wanted to stay from Sunday August 28 through Saturday September 3. I understand Hyatt does not allow for Sunday night check ins.

1. Could we book a room for her from August 27 through September 3 with her just not checking in Saturday but checking in Sunday or is that a violation of program rules?
2. Could we book one room in my name and one room in my wife's name and just have my wife check in on the 27th for the room being used for the nanny? Separately, Hyatt wants to charge a guest fee for the room I intended to book for my nanny. If we just book one room under my name and one room under my wife's name is there any way Hyatt will know or care if my nanny stays in the room under my wife's name (thereby allowing us to avoid the guest reservation fee)?

1> You will just have to make the reservation for Saturday to Saturday, and notify the resort that you will not be arriving untill Sunday. Its the way the rooms are allocated accross the week , not that Hyatt prohibits check ins on any mid stay check in.

2> YES you can do that ! That shoud be no problem, Assuming your wife, or even yourself, is listed as an owner on your membership record. You would have to book the original reservation in one of your names anyway, and then purchase the guest certificate as part of making the reservation, or buying the guest certifiacte seperatly at a later date. i.e You do not have to designate a guest at the time of making the resrvation, you can do that at anytime right up to the check in day, but maybe to be safe at least the day before. the Guest fee if you do it on line is just $30 or so, and a bit more if you do it over the phone. To purchase a Guest certificae for a resrvation on line you callup the "modify a reservation" option.

But if you or your guest will not be cheking in on the first day of the reservation, you must call the resort and let them know when you will be or plan to arrive. I do similar stays like your talking about quite often. You just have to "throw away" the unused nights you might say.

In any case if there is availabilty you better get it while you can, wory about these details later.

And remember who ever is "checking in" has to present an ID and Credit Card for guarantee of any extra charges etc. . (A small $100 or so 'Hold" will be placed on the credit card used for checking. So this is something to consider especilay if your leaving before the guest is.

The next 2 post below have the simple answer to your Question and specific situation: That being that you will be there at the same time, and the whole time that your guest will be there also. If you were NOT there when the guest checks in or checks out, then I suggest that you would need to get a Guest Certificate , to protect you and your guest from any problems.

You can book both rooms under your name with Saturday check-ins. When you get there, just check in to both rooms. They’ll give you the keys to both and you can give her her keys when she arrives.

A guest certificate should not be necessary if YOU check in. We often book multiple units when traveling with our adult kids and it’s never been an issue.

Depending how the timeshare week overlap works, it could work out nicely for you.

My current vacation plans include two days of overlap between Napa and San Francisco. (I have both resorts for a Saturday and Sunday.) I will 100% check in to the SF resort while still staying in Napa. If the weather is glorious, more wine tastings. If the weather turns inclement, I'll end the Napa stay early and head down to SF -- which is a far more pleasant place to be when it's pouring.

I love to participate in "pouring" in Napa. If you don't have Bordeaux, pour some Cabernet Sauvignon please.
