I’m not sure if this has been discussed, but it appears Hyatt has decided to increase the point requirements at the Colorado properties for silver through mountain seasons. Attached is the old point chart (red square) and new points chart.

Ouch if you own elsewhere and want to do an internal exchange in. Do people that own at those properties now receive a higher number of points to use elsewhere?

I recall a post about this a while ago after I had read a blog article about it from Premier Timeshare Resales.
So definitely a plus for CO Hyatt owners and negative for non-CO owners who would want to book CO using Hyatt's internal system.

This is unfortunate. I checked out the Aspen property, which only the points program owns an interest in. The lowest week at Aspen appears to be 1400 points, giving a substantial boost to the points now owned by the points program, and a system devaluation to all deed owners.

🤬 This is one reason I want to get rid of my Hyatt High Sierra lodge week. These actions are total BS. Hyatt screws its owners to somehow benefit itself. I know the rules and regs (that Hyatt writes for themselves) allow them to do whatever they want, regardless of how it impacts existing owners. But why screw over your existing customers? Why should legacy owners want to buy more Hyatt when they do this type of thing? 🤬

We had an interesting discussion with the manager at the Breckenridge Hyatt Main Street. He said the summer weeks are now more popular than the ski weeks for the owners. Many original owners have aged out of skiing. There is not much to do in Breckenridge in the Winter other than skiing. Their adult kids do not want to buy the units from their parents or even take them over because skiing has become so expensive. A one day pass is about $260 and that does not include any equipment rental. Hyatt Main Street is a fractional ownership place also so owners get their purchased week + one shoulder season week + a few other days. Those summer weeks are gobbled up before the winter weeks. The Breckenridge ski season occupancy rate last year was down; however, I do not recall the exact percentage.

Well, there is a popular saying about Breckenridge, something like "Visit for the winters, stay for the summers" or something to that effect. I do like Breck, and indeed a lot of the Colorado mountains, during winter but I look forward just as much, if not more, to visits in the summer or fall these days. Especially when going with non-skiers/snowboarders.
