Hyatt Ka'anapali resale purchase and 2025 reservation which I can't use

I bought a 2 BR Hyatt Ka anapali ocean view floating week
As part of the purchase I paid for 2025 usage
The owner was able to make a May 16,2025 reservation for me
I find I can not use the reservation
Supposedly Hyatt will finish processing the sale "any day now"
Until the unit is in my name I can't try to rent it out
Should I just ask the owner to cancel the reservation (and I will pay the cancellation fees)?
I am thinking 60 days is an important time deadline here so I may be getting close

if you cancel 60 days out or less, the points become restricted. They are restricted to reservations 60 days or less ahead, which is a problem. So yes, you need to make a decision soon.

The question is that since this is floating, when when the points expire (go LCUP)? if the end of the year, then you would have options to spend them elsewhere.

You could ask the owner, and if you get a good answer ask them to cancel the reservation. Not sure if there will be a fee if they cancel.

Another option would be to have the owner cancel and put the points in the EEE account. They will transfer over to you and you can use them to make a trade via II. It also gives you additional time to use them.

Not sure about points expiration for a floating week.

There is a $51 fee to cancel a reservation online, even HRPP reservation.

Moving them to EEE is a very poor use of points, especially after the recent devaluation.

If you are sure you can't use the reservation, ask the seller to cancel it more than 61 days before check in, and offer to reimburse the $51 Hyatt cancellation fee. When the ownership transfers to you, then figure out how to use the points.

Given the source he has been very good to work with
That said while he has moe knowledge than I do he really does not know when the points expire

You can book something until the Friday before week 50. But in the future when you book your float week in Maui you need to book by a date around June 15 -20 - check with owner services for the exact date as it varies.

My conclusion (which others have suggested):
Request owner to cancel current reservation and offer to pay cancellation fee

You seem to have the right idea, although I like the EE transfer suggestion.
BTW just returned from Hyatt Kaanapali. One of the best resorts on the island.

EEE is a good option - you have to make that decision 4 or more months before CUP ends. If the week 50 time period is the end of CUP, you probably will be closed before then and have time.

Once you move points to EEE they cannot be moved back for use other than Interval. But the great news is that the life of EEE points is extended - they can be used in Interval for 2 years past the use date - which sounds like week 50 - but it is a long time. Not sure how the rules work with a floating week. It will be 2 years past some date this year.

If week 50 is your deadline then you likely have time - once the reservation is cancelled you will have the points and time to figure out what to do with them.
