Don't currently own at Hyatt but thinking about it. Interested in how Hyatt trades into II, I see that you can get a fixed week or Hyatt points to use I guess to stay anywhere and then you trade those Hyatt points in through II, but I'm not sure how they translate. Someone posted, http://www.bywindkal.com/Files/HyattInterval.pdf, in another thread that shows the Hyatt points required to trade, but does it matter the resort you own at or does it come down to the points? Also, if you buy resale, do you have to pay extra to "clean" the points or anything to that extent?

Debating between Marriott and Hyatt for our next timeshare and will likely trade through II often.

It’s all about the points. It does not matter where you own for II trades.

It does matter what you own if you plan to use your deeded week.

When you own in Hyatt you get a corporate Hyatt Interval International account. You pay for it as part of your MF’s.

You don’t have to pay extra to use your points except the usual II fees for exchange and eplus etc.

430 points for a studio in peak season is a bargain for II exchanges IMO.

Since you are planning on trading through II often, it depends on whether the places you would like to go are Marriott, and are difficult to get. If so buy Marriott. The Marriott preference period takes the majority of high demand inventory out by the time a Hyatt owner can access it. I think it makes a big difference.

Agreed. I own Hyatt and use Interval and do not see peak Marriott inventory often. We travel off season into Marriott and are happy with our Hyatt which can see/pull about anything in Interval. But i also believe Interval is slanted to Marriott because of the preference period. The preference was created in Interval BEFORE Marriott switched to their points system to facilitate Marriott internal weekly trades before inventory became available to everyone else.
