Hyatt - canceling reservation booked with borrowed points

A few weeks ago, we booked a Wild Oak studio for my parents with borrowed points (within 60 days). But now they have a conflict and can't join us. What happens if we cancel something with borrowed points?

I called Hyatt, and they weren't sure. All they know for sure is that the points will last a year (so it does not get pulled into this period but will last its normal length), but they weren't sure if it would be restricted points that last the full year (akin to 1 year of LCUP) or if it would be returned to its original status.

Anyone know or have experience with this?

I don't mind LCUP too much since we live within driving distance so we usually find quick getaways easy to use. However, I'd like to know what I'm getting into before I hit the cancel button just to weigh my options on whether I should try to find someone to take this reservation since it is the desirable july 4 week. If it's restricted then i'm leaning towards finding someone and if it returns to regular, not restricted then just canceling the reservation.

Hope someone knows. Thanks.

I borrowed 10 points to make my Wild Oak reservation and ended up using it but the other 290 was using LCUP points. I also cancelled the a Highlands Inn reservation and those went to restricted CUP (i.e.) can only book 60 days out and cost me $49 for the cancellation.

I tried checking for things I like using restricted CUP and did not find much so with 4.5 months before use date, I moved the points into II since that would give me more time and flexibility. This is the first time I am moving points to II.

For those who may be interested in the answer:

The following is from Kal's website in the "reference guide for reservation windows" section:

Cancellation Policy
• Cancellations made more than 60 days prior to arrival will result in total restoration of points to your account.
• Cancellations made less than 60 days prior to arrival restrict members to reserving and occupying units
available within 60 days of the date the reservation is made.
• Cancellations of reservations using borrowed points will restore the points to the following year.

I haven't cancelled yet because my cousin may join us, but I'll post verifying that the above is indeed true if I do end up canceling.
