Hulk Hogan passes away suddenly

Definitely the type of person: steroids are bad for your heart and Hulk Hogan said he used them for 13 years.

I had him down for "roid rage"
I didn't realize steroids caused heart issues

I lived in Clearwater Beach a few years ago and never saw the Hulkster. My last day I was leaving my rental and driving out and saw a golf cart and white mustache headed toward me. Well hot damn! It was the hulk cruising back to his house on North Beach..

Sad news, I was really into wrestling for a while, and even attended a Wrestlemania event that featured the Hulk many years back..

I am 70, so of course I don't think 71 is old.

Our son was so into the wrestlemania thing. Had the toy wrestling ring and a bunch of the figures. Hulk Hogan was the favorite amongst his peers. One day we heard him cry out and shriek…..Hulk Hogan joined the “bad Guy team”!! I don’t think he and his friends ever recovered. I think they were 10 years old at the time.
I remember as a child my grandpa would watch wrestling on the black and white tv….I’m talking 1960 maybe? I can remember one wrestler grabbing a folding chair from the audience, bringing it into the ring and clobbering his opponent with it. Not much different 60 years later.
RIP Hulkster! You were very entertaining.

I was more a fan of the previous wrestlers, Rowdy Roddy Piper and Ric Flair. Condolences to the family.

Hulk outlasted most of those from the steroid era. As a marketing guy, I enjoyed some of the character development several years ago. My favorites were Rowdy Roddy Piper, Razor Ramon, Hulk, Booker T, and Macho Man. The NWO was also fun for a while. Although wrestling has always been scripted, you have to admire the strength and athleticism of many of these wrestlers.

Never a fan. 71 isn't old. He took steroids. Sadder losses in the past few days. Malcom Jamal Warner, Chuck Mangione.
In that world 71 can be very old. Or they are still out there working just like in "The Wrestler". It is not a competition of what is sadder but Hulk is right up there in popularity. He was wrestling but was always out for himself which is neither right or wrong.

1996 WCW was not for 10
Year olds. In reality he joined the cool team in a crazy attempt to extend his career and it worked. He was involved in the two golden eras and the downhill. Now it just seems so bad but I am sure everyone says that after they are out.

And every life is precious.

IDK, I lost an uncle to a pretty sudden unexpected (to us, I guess my cousins knew he was sicker) heart attack at 72. I have seen the 70s be when it really gets dangerous for a lot of people you wouldn't expect. Then again, my dad made it to 83 so there's hope.
