Any one have any questions as we are here now. Wife loves the villas and the feel of living is a quaint old fashioned style village.
So far weather has been beautiful for this time of year. It has rained on us only one evening. Days have been clear blue sky's but a little chilly in the 50's.
Marriott is collecting 8.33€ per day per person. It was raised during the Olympics to help pay for costs related to influx of tourists. Then was supposed to go back down to 2€ a day. But FD agent says they have not lowered it and will be raising it to a little under 9€ a day. Typical government way. Once you raise a tax, there is no way it will be lowered back.
A word of advice, ask for a non smoking unit if you do not smoke. We got one villa that does not have a non-smoking sticker, and there is a faint smell of cigarettes. I thought all MVC units were non-smoking? Noticed while walking around that some villas have a non smoking sticker on door and others do not.
If you do not have a vehicle, it cost us about 70€ to Uber from CDG. Navigo pass for one week at 30€ is a great deal. We use it to visit DL Paris, visit Paris and the Carrefor market 2 stops past marriott. Pretty easy to navigate plus buses/trains run frequently and on time. Find it just as intuitive to use as in Washington DC or New York and a lot cleaner. Have not seen a homeless person on train or bus so far. Have seen homeless in station before turnstiles sleeping.
Groceries are a lot cheaper than Hawaii for sure. I couldn't believe the prices. An example is 1€ for 6 bottles of 1.5L still water. In Hawaii at costco that would have cost me $1.50 a bottle. Fresh just out of oven baguette was 1€ at the local boulangerie in the same shopping center.
Thanks for reading my rant and enjoy your stays here at Marriott Paris. We are definitely coming back. Wife is thinking about a month stay next time. Wondering if anyone has done a long term stay here and has some insights on what to do?
