I think most Marriott's have heated pools on HHI but I know that Barony and Surf Watch do. We are heading down in late Feb. It will be our first off season trip. I figure it has to be warmer than Ohio in Feb!
We've spent two trips on HHI over New Year's and found the temps to be in the 50's and 60's. It was cool for swimming in the heated pools and the beach was empty. But we rented bikes and zoomed around on the beach with sweats and windbreakers on. It definitely was nicer than weather in Wisconsin in January. It's not Mexico, but it's OK. We got a real kick the first time we visited HHI over New Year's and experienced snow flurries. The locals were astounded and people stopped what they were doing to go out and see the snow falling from the sky. Being from WI we were less than thrilled!! If you all golf or play tennis you can definitely still do that. And there's always shopping! :whoopie:
One year it was in the 80s everyday. Nothing was open though. We are going at the end of Feb this year as we did last year. Mostly all the restaurants are open then. Jan is a crap shoot. It can be warm but don't count on it.
My parents used to go to HHI just after Christmas, and they experienced temps anywhere from the 40's at night to the 70's on a good day! Better than the weather in Toronto!!
We vacationed here several times during New Years before moving to the area. Our temperatures vary but seldom do we have an entire week that is really bad. All the pools at Surf Watch are heated. Grande Ocean has a heated indoor pool and a heated lap pool, Barony has a heated indoor pool and the outside pool by the spa is also heated. We have heated pools here in Sun City and can swim in them most of the year. We do get into the low 30's and sometimes a little lower. We move plants in and out during all of winter and they spend more time out than inside. There are plenty of restaurants open during the winter. We have a rather large permanent population in the area.
