I promise, this isn't a duplicate question of the recent few that have popped up in the forum the last few days, but rather a place to consolidate the information. With the help of @kozykritter and @Pamplemousse I have put together the attached chart. It shows the different types of points you may end up with in your account (top) along with the possible uses of points (left). There are indicators showing if you can use the points for any given usage type. With this, there should never be a reason for points to go to waste. Though I really should have included a row at the bottom saying "Give to Jeremy with all green check marks! :p

Let me know if you see anything that looks incorrect or needs updated;

Looks great! Should this be a sticky?

Very useful
Thank you for taking the time to do it

This is great...thank you Jeremy, Kritter, and Mousse! :clap:

Great job Jeremy & friends....very helpful.
These things take a lot of time and effort, so it's much appreciated.

Thanks for putting this together. Super useful!

I just got off phone with MVC agent, trying to use Holding Points set to expire at end 2023. She said the only use options now for Holdin Points are: Book within 60 day window 2) Resort Credit 3) Travel Insurance.
All other options no longer permitted. That sounds very restrictive compared to previous.

I would try another agent.

There seems to be a lot of agent discretion in the use of Hold Points. MVC really needs to have a clear written policy for members to view.

I agree. It isn't written into the Exchange Procedures. This is what it has to say about restrictions on Holding Account points. All these other uses of points are considered "Special Benefits".
Exchange Company has the right to establish such rules and regulations as it deems necessary to adequately govern Program Member access to such Special Benefits, which may include, for example, certain fees, or a restriction on the use of Exchange Points deposited in a Holding Account for certain Special Benefits, as determined by Exchange Company in its sole discretion.

@Ixchel
I was just on MVC owner chat and decided to for ask for uses for holding points-

“Club Points in a Holding Account may be used to book reservations, resort credit, or travel protection.
Chantel P”

I then said there used to be other options? When did this change?

“There used to be other options, but we can no longer use holding points for that, you can do last-minute bookings, and cruises as well, but it has to be before the points expire.
It changed almost 6 months ago.
Chantel P“

Looks like the chart needs an edit @dioxide45 although I didn’t specifically ask about each thing. They might still allow direct exchange on II, maybe still shop and dine on HHI…
Car rental and golf weren‘t allowed when the chart was made. Maybe hasn’t changed that much?

Agree. At another Tug suggestion, I called Presidential Owner Services again. Holding Points use limited to Resort Credit, Travel Insurance, Resort bookings. No rental cars, no tickets, no airline miles. He said it changed " one or two months ago".

I guess last minute Travelex at 800 points is about the best option, if not able to Travel.

Certainly should be added as a link in the Abound Points FAQ Sticky.
Done, better late than never. The link is in the "Related TUG Threads" section on page 3 of the sticky. Thanks again, @dioxide45 !!

For a given reservation, is there any limit on how many Resort Credits may be ordered at 325 points each ?

I don’t believe so but that would be a good question to ask via the owners site chat.
