Long story short I signed something I shouldn't have and I have a lengthy massive Vidanta limitless timeshare I own that I would like to recoup some money on an move on from.
It's 2 weeks a year for like 10 years plus a host of other stuff. It was around 10k.

Any advice for how to sell this/transfer it and where to find the best buyer would be appreciated.

Thanks1

Is it completely paid off?

If the credit card was issued to you as part of the sale, you will probably have to pay it off to sell it.

If I remember correctly Vidanta is very hard to sell because of Vidanta's hugh charge for change of Ownership. Your 2 real options are: 1. Learn to use it and enjoy it; or, 2. Just forget about it and walk away.

With some occasional reading of Vidanta threads, my overall sense is that, with the exorbitant fees charged for change of ownership, Vidanta has made it so that if an owner wants out of the contract, it is easier and less costly for the owner to just walk away from the contract rather than to try to sell it to someone else.

There are some older contracts, ones sold before the exorbitant transfer fee was initiated (10-15 years ago?), that might have some value. But with newer contracts the amount of the transfer fee will be much greater than any resale price, meaning an owner loses money by trying to sell. And few, if any, buyers will be willing to pay the transfer fee even if the resale price is zero.

Keep in mind that you do not really own a Timeshare Deed at all, but you do own at a Vacation Club where as long as you pay annually then you have the right to occupy.

Sadly, this type of arrangement is worth little or nothing on the resale market and it is highly likely that you will be unable to find any buyer for it. Plus, they will they will soak you (or the buyer) for the right to transfer.

Your best bet may be to try and make use of it yourself, rent it to others, or exchange it to a location in which you prefer to visit.

Welcome to TUG and best of luck!

You did not buy a Vidanta TS.

You bought Limitless Vacations from a salesperson who works for Vida Sales (at a Vidanta Resort)
Limitless Vacations is a brand product of Arrivia ( formerly ICE - International Cruise and Excursions) Arrivia is also the owner of RedWeek.
LV will give you access to booking Vidanta resorts and your usage should not have the resort fee cost that exchangers pay.

There is a Mexican Forum thread on Limitless Vacations
Limitless Vacations - [started April 2021]

You will need to contact Limitless Vacations to find out IF this program can be transferred out of your name / sold.
As far as I know this specific question about LV has not come up before on TUG.

The LV program may require a small yearly cost ( $ 99 ? ) to keep it active. There is no yearly MF.
If you book a week you pay a usage fee. I believe various Vidanta brands - locations and unit sizes can be booked at various costs.

[note -there has been little TUG Forum information on what else LV can access beyond Vidanta resorts ]

@TUGBrian or @DeniseM
perhaps this thread should move to the Mexican Forum in some manner.

When did you buy it? You may be able to contact Vidanta Customer Services and cancel it, if it was just a week or two ago.

Limitless Vacations is part of the exit program that they try to dangle in front of you when you say no to the real Vidanta properties. If you can't get out of it, you will have to use it. You will not be able to sell it for anything more than the transfer fees. We had HSI (another part of ICE) added to a purchase we made and were able to transfer it to someone for a $100 fee. We did not get any $ in our pocket, we just did not want it and were not going to pay the annual fee to be a part of it.

Ok no worries - the general consensus is that the fee's are worth more than it's worth to transfer.

That being said - I'm looking at airbnb'ing it by prebooking the top 4 mexican holidays at the top locations for the year and listing those. I'm allowed to do so and after the week few in theory should come back with some return vs none based on the numbers.

At any rate I'll have to learn more about the actual value usage of this - thank you all for the responses. I was absolutely hammered when I bought it last fall and well - YOLO I guess? Never doing that again

Hey - don't beat yourself up. We bought 2 timeshares in 2008 and eventually, both went belly up and we lost our money. We did get to go to them for about 6 years before they went downhill for lack of maintenance and completion and we decided to cut our losses. Both were sold to other companies that did not want to honor our contracts. It was significantly more than you paid.
