How to Lock Off

I'm considering purchasing at Westin Kierland Villas and using it to lock off into the larger and smaller one bedroom for trading in II. How is this accomplished? Do I reserve a 2 bedroom week and then have Westin do something for trading or do I just reserve a 1 bedroom premium and a one bedroom and deposit them? Is there some benefit to doing this in a particular way in terms of fees or otherwise?

Thanks!

With Westin/Sheraton, you do not reserve the week. Westin will deposit to II the unit(s) you tell them to deposit. Westin selects the dates. No fee for "locking off" with Westin/Sheraton.

Except Kierland is a Mandatory Resort, meaning you get the Staroptions to book anything in the Westin/ Sheraton system, and I would never deposit Kierland into II.

You should consider a Sheraton Desert Oasis for exchange purposes. It's got great trading power. We own Westin Desert Willow Platinum Season, not Mandatory Staroptions, and the trading power of Westin is not "braggable."

I agree with Cindy - I would never use a Vistana timeshare with Staroptions for a II trader. They have far more value exchanging in the Vistana System.

Also, WKV has seasons: the low season maintenance fee is just as high as the high season maintenance fee, BUT you get far fewer StarOptions. So be careful what season you buy - the ones that are cheap or free are usually low season.

I use a Sheraton Desert Oasis, 2bd lock-off, 1-52/gold week for a trader.

I have recently purchased a resale SDO which came with 2 x 1 bedroom reservations already in place for early next year. is it possible to still deposit one week in Interval for a trade? or do i need to wait until next year before securing my week?

Yes: After the deed is in your name and officially recorded with Vistana/Marriott.
The reservation must be cancelled.
You need to pay the 2026 maintenance fee.
Then you can deposit it.

Usually, you book the two-bedroom week and the resort splits it into two one-bedrooms for trading with II. Some people book the one-bedrooms separately, but it depends on availability. Fees can vary, so it’s best to check with Westin on the most cost-effective way.

Not with Westin/Vistana - as explained above, you cannot deposit a reservation.
