How to Escape to Jamaica Right Now - Digitally
By Caribbean Journal Staff / Caribbean Journal / caribjournal.com / April 5, 2020
“There’s a new way to take a digital getaway to Jamaica right now, with the launch of the Jamaica Tourist Board’s new “Escape to Jamaica” program.
The new Instagram Live series will air weekly on the Jamaica Tourist Board’s channel, with everything from live cooking demonstrations to pre-recorded wellness sessions and dance parties.
“We’re aware that people from all corners of the globe may be in need of an escape with what’s happening right now,” said Jamaica’s Director of Tourism, Donovan White. “With this live series, Jamaica offers a virtual getaway through our music, cuisine, culture, warm people and that unmistakable Jamaican spirit.”
The series, which first launched on April 3, will follow on April 6 with a yoga session from Empress Thandi Wise of the Rasta Wellness Center and Jakes Hotel.
That will be followed by an April 8 episode with Food Network Chopped champion Andre Fowles, with April 10 seeing a show by DJ Delano.
April 15 will feature the famous Rousseau Sisters with a program on Caribbean cooking, while April 17 is another music session, this time by ZJ Chrome.
“Since visitors are unable to come to us at the moment, we want to bring the ‘Heartbeat of the World’ to their homes,” White said. “Jamaica will be here to welcome travelers when the time is right. We want our followers to know we can only get through this together.”
