How Long for a Guest Certificate for RCI?

I changed our reservation by phone into a guest certificate this morning at 8am. How long should I expect for them to send me a confirmation email or update my account? Thanks Tuggers! :D

Was this in Points or Weeks?

I changed our reservation by phone into a guest certificate this morning at 8am. How long should I expect for them to send me a confirmation email or update my account? Thanks Tuggers! :D

In Weeks, I've always done it online and it was pretty much instantaneous. However, this feature is not available on Points. When I called and placed a Guest on the reservation through Points, I was told to allow 5 days. I waited 5 days and nothing. I called on day 6 and asked VC to check on it. Snotty VC said that it takes up to 5 business days and to wait. I waited this time frame out and nothing. I called back to find out that my credit card had been charged, but a Guest Certificate had not been initiated. Finally, I got someone that actually took care of it. It was about 5 days though before it showed in my account.

It was weeks, but I am not waiting, I am calling again this afternoon. I don't want the person I am giving it to, to have to worry, and let's be honest, RCI doesn't have the best track record.

I have called 3 times today already and still no email verification. I will be calling again tomorrow. I know that they have done it b/c they say the name of the person that I have asked the guest certificate for, but still no email. The third time that I called, the guy said that it takes 24-48 hours for me to get an email because they hire a third party to send out the emails etc., and record it into the system. He also said that they switch names closer to the date because there are so many changes with reservations so they wait until the last minute. I am not sure what to believe, but I am just going to keep bugging and calling until I get an email verification. Any other advice as to what I can do?? Thanks!

Thanks so much for all of your assistance. We called this morning, asked to speak to a manager and it was sent immediately. :)

It's a shame that you have to work so hard for what you paid for.

You can't necessarily assume that it's been taken care of just because you've been charged. I've found that out a couple of times with RCI.

Extra effort, but now you have peace of mind! :wave:

Here we go again. On 3/15, paid for a Guest Certificate. It will be 3-5 business days. Today, no Guest Certificate. Called and explained that I had two units for the same week; I'm using one and a guest is using the other. I'm concerned because last time, it took 3 phone calls over two weeks to get the GC. Guide said it showed on his screen. It doesn't show up on my Confirmation like the others have (eventually). He'll resend it (another 3-5 business days). Why doesn't it show up on my Confirmation if it's showing on your screen and has been processed? Dunno....check your spam filter. Nothing else from RCI goes there, but I have just in case.

Why does this have to be so difficult? Why can't we just do it ourselves online like Weeks exchanges? Why oh why oh why? Dang, it's $59 for this "service". Geez! :doh:

I have one banked week with RCI left to exchange then i am done. They are absolutely a horrible company. People are generally nice that i have talked to when i have called for assistance (which is at least 50 times cause i constantly have issues with my ongoing searches).

What i dont understand is how a company that specializes in online vacation travel have such an outdated website/search engine?

The incompentance of RCI is baffling.
