How hard is it to trade MGC for a DVC?

I've just purchased a 2 bdrm MGC in Las Vegas with the hopes of tradeing it every now and then for a two bedroom unit at Disney Vacation Club.:)

Interval (II) has told me that I can add Marriot to my existing Worldmark membership with Interval International for a small fee.

Does anyone know how hard it is to trade a two bed-room Marriot Platinum timeshare for a two bed-room Disney Vacation Club timeshare?

It would have been a hard trade even with II. It's not going to be any easier with RCI. It doesn't matter since DVC owners usually rent their weeks out. Anyway, there are alot of other great places to stay in Orlando.

Actually I think it would have been pretty easy prior to today, since I got 4 units at DVC with various AC's. However, like others have said, as of today, they are trading with RCI.

There is always a lot of last minute availability with II almost everywhere. There were even occasional 2 bedroom units at DVC. It just requires a lot of flexibility. There were rarely summer prime time units available or holiday weeks that you could book ahead.
RCI is best for booking far ahead, with little availability within the 60-day window. RCI will probably rent any DVC weeks that get deposited (even though they're not supposed to).

Houston....I think we have a problem.

I do have both RCI and II membership with my worldmark membership.

But since Marriot is only served thru II I think I have a problem......but ...just may-be......I can register my new Marriot with my worldmark RCI membership.

I planned to call RCI Worldmark after the Holidays.

No chance of trading MGC through RCI. Only the following Marriott resorts trade through RCI in addition to through II:

StreamSide: Birch, Douglas (not Evergreen) [Aspen & Cedar are no longer managed by Marriott.]
Cypress Harbour
Desert Springs Villas I (not Desert Springs Villas II)
Harbour Club
Heritage Club
Monarch
Royal Palms
Sabal Palms
Sunset Pointe

A phone call to WorldMark RCI confirmed that "Your so Right Dave"

Disney Vacation Club is now history with Interval International and therefore Marriot.

Picture me angry-ly screeming a loud "WHY" towards the empty Seattle skies.

I wonder why DVC switched?

Two bedroom DVC's weren't that common in II, anyway. Unless you wanted to go in January (coldest month in Orlando) or hurricane season (September).

i was able to get two bedrooms in
may, june,August, november and december on a regular basis
as well as January and september as previously stated
with my Fox run Week #10-#14

hard to believe a timeshare that was given to me
(Foxrun/#weeks #10-#14)
would pull a two bedroom
at disney vacation club/7 days
at least 7 of the 12 months in a year

maybe that is why
DVC left interval for RCI

I own DVC points, but I'm just as happy staying at Marriott's Cypress Harbour. It feels like home as soon as I pull up to the guard house. Gosh, I love that resort. We actually downsized our DVC points because we like Marriott's Cypress Harbour and Horizons Orlando so much.

I hate to disagree, but I got a 1bd unit in Dec 07 (prime DVC time due to low points), and 2 bds in May 08, Oct 08 (during food and wine festival) and Nov 08. I just placed requests for them with AC's and got them.

Of course, like I mentioned, after today, it doesn't matter.

You think this is the reason DVC left II? I think they left II because RCI will allow the Disney owners to use nightly stays, and II is not set up that way.

We can still use Foxrun to get into all of the Marriotts, and I have pretty much talked myself into the fact that Marriotts are better. I don't have to pay $95; I have more channels I can watch at the Marriotts; and I can get any date I want at the Marriotts.

Why DVC, when Marriotts are actually more luxurious, and so is Vistana Villages, than Disney.

The Marriotts are nice but I much prefer the DVC resorts. I love the DVC perks of extra magic hours, transportation ,location and especially the themes of the resorts. I'm hoping DVC will be available to RCI weeks and if so I will join RCI with my Worldmark account.

I have a two bedroom Wilderness lodge in February and have previously gotten two bedroom units in every month except March, April and July.

I definitely saw more two bedroom deposits in January and September with what I was searching with. I hardly ever did a request first, though. I always searched with 1 bedroom or studio deposits. The II deposits probably worked for empty nesters or retired folks pretty good, though.

I definitely think Marriott Vacation Club has DVC beat hands down on comfort and furnishings on the units. DVC has the location to the parks and the theming. I own both, but I've noticed a lot in my almost eight years of ownership with DVC. I had started to worry a little bit about the upkeep on the older DVC's - the last time I stayed at BWV I was really disappointed in it, it was looking quite worn out. We sold our BWV points after our last trip there. Our grown kids told us they would have rather stayed at Marriott.

Our plan since DVC left II is to tag on some Disney nights after our Marriott weeks. We'll use a combination of Annual Pass rates and DVC point nights - but only at the Disney resorts that I know are in good shape. I can stay in the main lodge at Wilderness Lodge on an AP rate for around $144 a night and it's just been remodeled within the last few years. Also, I heard Coronado Springs is getting a nice remodel and I can get that for $89 a night with an AP. Of course, Animal Kingdom villas and the new Contemporary BLT should be very nice since they will be the newest DVC's and no problems with wear and tear on them yet. SSR has also been in good shape when we've stayed there. My plan is a combination of Marriott Vacation Club for absolute comfort and Disney for the theming/location (mixture of cash and points).
