How does the RCI exchange process work?

I'm new to timesharing and very new to the TUG board and I've been trying to educate myself in all areas. I have 210,000 even-year Wyndham points purchased from Wyndham at Glacier Canyon and I just picked up 154,000 odd-year points on E-bay.

My wife and I are retiring this year and look forward to travelling as much as possible to as many different places as possible using our points.

I don't have a good understanding of how the exchange process through RCI works. I've read a lot of posts on how many have deposited the lowest number of points (blue-week studio) and received some great one and two bedroom exchanges. What I haven't seen...and maybe someone can point me in the right direction...is a description of the process RCI uses to determine when to give someone a great exchange for a small deposit. Sort of a "how-to" to get good results.

unfortuantely, no, it is controlled by exchange company. They decide how they want to manipulate the process.

But generally, if you see an area where there are a lot of TS resorts, you can assume you should deposit some lower points. If you see an area with few resorts, or some high seasonal resort, you should assume that you can get cheap and more control with just renting.

I guess my question wasn't very good...what I don't understand is at what point RCI decides to exchange say a two bedroom unit at a nice location for my lousy 28K Wyndham points.

I think that is called "Trade Secrets". There has been a large discussion on the Exchange board about how RCI Values weeks. In the end it all has to come down to some sort of Supply and Demand dynamic. If there are a lot of resorts in the area offering weeks and not a lot of people wanting those weeks then lesser ones will take them closer to check-in date so they don't go unused. That is just my logical guess.

It seems like it has not been happening so often, at least now for us, I have had to use more points for exchanges with RCI.
