How do I 'search' if I use Eplus?

I have been unsuccessful in acquiring a last week of November exchange into Scottsdale.....the FOUR resorts I want simply aren't showing up.
(Sheraton, Westin, Marriott, Four Seasons.....I realize it is T'Giv veek)) I have already a week at the Four Seasons the NEXT week.....I was thinking of making a 14 day trek.

As a result, I am considering taking a lesser choice, only a 1BR, and no full kitchen. I am not overly excited about that, but for the last two months it is the only thing out there.
If it were to go away....I might have to do VRBO or Airbnb.

I have never used Eplus, but may if YOUR answers persuade me to do so.

IF I take the lesser exchange....how do I then do a daily search for something better?

Once I make the exchange, which week am I now 'looking with'....the one that I A) used to Exchange or B) the 'new' week that I now have received??
(I think my original week has slightly higher trading power than the one I would exchange into.)

Is my week that I deposited still somehow there to search with?

Thanks for your help,
Pat

II> History> Exchanges
Find the confirmed exchange
Start retrade or Start E-Plus Retrade

You are always searching with the trade power of the original week.

Marriotts Canyon Villas may appear very close to check-in, but it would have to be out of Marriott preference for you to see it.
A Four Seasons week may appear.
Westin is unlikely .

So, do you and others think it is worth a try for $89......I am leaning toward that....I wish it was still a more 'comfortable' risky amount of $59....

Yes, for many of us $59 was easily worth it an automstic buy and I just automatically added it. At $89 is just annoying and yet another money grab, and I don't just automatically get it. . But having it has seriously saved at least 2 vacations. Even if you don't get the ideal match you may likely save some value from your original deposit.

Expensive now - sure. And maybe II (now owned by Marriott) will decide it is worth it, but like all insurances, it is a risk tolerance and finance decision.

The current terms of e-plus are that it stops working 14 days before check-in, so take a view on whether you think something will come up more or less than 14 days before.

If you book what is currently available and don't get e-plus you have the option of a full fee retrade from 24hrs after you book it to the day before you check-in.

Its a balance of risk and cost.

Yeah since the 14-day rule change, it’s no longer a travel insurance but a prepaid exchange fee. Pay 89 now if you expect to change your schedule, upgrade to something better, etc. if the likelihood is > 50% you are better off adding ePlus.

Think Scottsdale is not a hard exchange at all. I’ve grabbed a Christmas week 2-bed Marriott Canyon Villas without preference. In Sightings forum, you can place a request and someone may watch for you as well. I got great help from Greg to retrade and upgrade a Christmas week in Palm Springs.

Another idea: put OGS on the new week received for the better week / resort you desire, add e-plus to the old lesser exchange and if successful, retrade into something else for your next trip.
