How do I get around paying for a short term rental permit fee and business license for our timeshare week in Indio, California?

I'm trying to rent my Indio Worldmark The Club by Wyndham resort week on VRBO and the city if Indio requires a hotel license. Do I say No and move on? Looks like I'm being re directed to the directory for local regulations of "short term rental permits". I know there was a work around on this, because the timeshare sales office alluded to it. Of course, they wouldn't tell us what it was unless we bought more credits.
That didn't happen.

And you believe it? They lie for a living.
If you don't want to abide by the rules of Indio, then reserve another week elsewhere to rent.

Don't rent it out on Vrbo. There are probably other sites that don't make you go through the shenanigans. Perhaps try Redweek or Go-Koala?
