Hi folks!
I own in Club Wyndham on the points system(?) but my "home" resort is in Hawaii. I exchanged last year through RCI for a Vidanta property in Puerto Vallarta. It was PERFECT for our family and we would love to go again this year, but they do not allow you to exchange into Vidanta through RCI in consecutive years. Is there some way that I could still try to get in there? Ideally it would be for this summer--and I know that is very last minute. Not sure how I should or could go about trying to trade/exchange/transfer what I have in order to get into Vidanta this year, so any guidance would be appreciated!

1 in 3 Rule is currently in place for RCI -
however there is an exception clause for 2023 for the Mayan Palace Puerto Vallarta Marina - RCI 6634 (not Nuevo V) and Riviera Maya RCI 6635 locations if you pay a higher resort fee of $ 900 for a 1 bedroom or $ 1400 for a 2 bedroom

also Mayan Palace Puerto Penasco -RCI 6860 [ 4 hour drive from Phoenix ]
resort fee - 1 bedroom - $ 700 / 2 bedroom $ 1100

Renting from an owner - there are listings for Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta in TUG Marketplace.
{ Redweek and Aimfair also have Vidanta owner rentals.}

You will pay more for the rental but there is no resort fee this way.

Thank you for this info! I have been checking out the owner rentals and will keep looking and check out those other cites as well. Should I also assume there is no other work-around to somehow get my Wyndham points/week into any exchange system that would let me use my week/points to get directly into the resort?

You could try SFX, but it might be easier to rent.
Sorry I am such a newbie. Am I able to deposit my Wyndham points into SFX? I see that they have the resort I would like, but am I able to confirm that I would be able to exchange into it before I deposit my points/week?

I am not sure you can, TBH. Wyndham will not confirm deposits for SFX (or any exchange other than RCI). At one point, SFX was trying to work with Wyndham owners, but I do not know if they are still doing that. You would have to talk to them.

Thanks! I am not sure if there is a thread anywhere that describes this, but how would I go about trying to rent my timeshare? I have 168,000 wyndham points, and our home resort is in Hawaii (although I am not sure that we have enough points to buy a full week there anymore!). I am not sure how it would work--ideally I would like to try to rent out something that would be equivalent to what the cost of the Vidanta property would be if I rented that so that it could be a wash.

Start in this thread:

How to Rent Your Timeshare

It is part of this forum:

Buying, Selling & Renting Timeshares

The TLDR is to rent a week somewhere that people like to go, advertise it, then close the deal. If you want an idea of what the rental market is like, look in the TUG marketplace or on eBay.
On eBay you can see what various locations and dates are renting for.
I think that Wyndham offers a way to rent your points through them that would be the least amount of return for the least amount of work.
